This is a match up of two of the top teams in the league. Last week the Jets made a nice comeback at Adrian and escaped with a 25-24 win. The Pirates jumped out to a quick lead on Crestwood but had to hang on in the 2nd half to win 30-28. Airport won last season’s battle at home 35-7.
Airport has a solid ground attack and can throw the ball when needed to. Defensively the Jets will be one of the best in the league again and this is why many have them tabbed to capture the title.
Riverview has plenty of speed in the backfield but was dominated up front last week in the 2nd half. The Pirates will have to do a better job against the run and stay away from mistakes if they plan on upsetting the Jets.
This is an intriguing match up because of the caliber of last weeks opponents. Airport won against a strong team and program while Riverview struggled against a perennial losing program. There may be more to the game tonight as Airport may be a bit shorthanded. Pick: Airport 28 Riverview 21
Airport offense is pretty simple. Punish the opposing d line early. If you get a stop and its 3rd and long, now you have potcovas arm and McCormicks hands to deal with..if he doesn't run. Air dominated a bigger Adrian in the 2nd half last week. Fun team to watch when they're running on all cylinders.
Drama wasn't my intention at all. Kinda thought I was done with the blog. I'm not doing any game summaries or coverage but posting scores and my two cents is easy enough. Traffic has been pretty high. Comments are down but that stuff gets sketchy anyway.
I don't think I will be at a game tomorrow. Planning on watching State and Bosie. I may DVR and go down to Navarre Field. Hopefully they won't announce the score.
Fenton 34 Adrian 6
I expect Airport's running game to take control early and often to setup Potcova later. Here's hopin the defensive front can win the battle up front cause Riverview has speed to burn in the backfield. I'll say Airport 31-14. Now what's this about Airport being shorthanded? EM
If Airport's running game takes control early why would they have Potcova throw the ball later? In this game last year Potcova didn't attempt 1 pass.
Sounds like a bunch of drama, anybody know what is happening at Airport? BTW, the reason people think this site is dead because Mr. Schultz got all dramatic and said he was done with the blog, but than he goes ahead on makes a bunch of posts left and right. The blog is infact VERY ALIVE and I was wrong to CALL IT DEAD.
The site seems dead compared to last year. I think every kid in the league commented last year. So far it doesn't seem that way.
Players Play? Sounds like some players won't be playing. Someone doing something naughty?
Well unless they lose their entire O-line I'm afraid Airport is going to win again.
Riverview needs to do whatever it can to hang around and stay close and then maybe figure out a way to get one of their speedy backs out in the open to steal one at the end of the game.
Pirates will have to do something about their front 7 on D. The way they let Crestwood run on them in the second half last week was not good.
With Airport's experince on the O-line they will no doubt try to chew up the clock and trust that their D can keep the View's backs out of the endzone. Riverview does have a little experience in the d-backfield. But the Jets shouldn't have to pass much.
I voted Bama, I am guessing 31-10. Why is Airport shorthanded?
Has anyone looked at the Bama/Michigan poll? I can't believe 50% of the people think Michigan will win. I will bet all of you straight up that Bama wins.
