  1. I know this is a few days late but I just wanted to tip my hat to Milan. As a CC alumni and die hard Falcon fan I have to give props to the better team. The line play for Milan was pretty impressive and that back is a stud. It was tough to watch my boys take that beating but they will be back soon. I also thought that the Milan people were great sports also. I heard a few things but every team has a few bad apples. I hope Milan wins out the rest of the schedule and reperesents the Huron league in the playoffs. Good Job Milan and good luck !!

  2. Airport has some big players on there team however they are not using the correctly. Potcova and McCormick could be deadly together but coaches are just worried about pounding it through the other teams defensive line instead of going through the air. That 1960s offense doesnt do justice these days

  3. GROSSE ILE 4-1 seasons lookin good. boys know how to play some football. milan only undefeated team grosse ile next best. -o rock

  4. Hats of to milan big physical team my guess league champs. Though coach needs to put #11 in check or he will be sitting games for pearsonal fouls. An also pull #1 out when game in hand can't afford injury to him . Good luck rest of season and play-offs. Impressed C.C. Parent

  5. I recall talking about the parents being the main issue at Jefferson weeks ago. Kids listen to that and have bad attitudes because its all they hear from parents and students. Obviously the man cares about the program or he wouldn't have been there for almost 50 years. When I played for him we were disciplined and operated like a machine. Kids lack discipline now of days. I see it on other teams as well. Not just Jefferson. The guy can't be there for much longer-support would go a long way.

  6. The GI teams playoff run last year left a great taste in their mouth. They just want more. Looking at the rest of the schedule they are on playoff road. I believe every player on this team including the soph's were brought up last year and they are already waiting for this years run. This team does not get gassed in the second half. Every game they have picked up speed as the game went on. GO GI! Great win last night.

  7. Congrats to Coach O and FR!! He is doing a nice job with the boys. I knew he'd always be the coach someday, just not this soon!!
I'm looking fwd to seeing my 1st game in 6 years this week (homecoming) against Milan!

  8. We love coach Cisco, but yes it is time for him to go!!! He has given a lot to our community, but our needs have changed. We need pride back to our school, we need a tough coach that's going to make the kids responsible for there actions.

  9. Thats exactly why its a risk for the future not fielding a JV squad. The few soph's that did show up to play, as you indicated have not been on the field under the lights. Plus, if there is a JV squad, maybe more would of come out to play. Game play makes the boys better.

I respect the fact that they are learning in practice, but, Milan will have a tough time either next year or the year after, unless all this years soph's start next year, and thats unlikely.

I hope the future isn't mortgaged, their program deserves better. BUT, fielding a JV squad ensures experience. Fielding a Frosh squad instead leaves a gap in playing experience.

  10. I just think it's a poor matchup for ND. Just my Sparty opinion.

I think Milan would have been better served moving up 8-10 freshmen while having 8 sophs on JV. Surely more sophs would have come out.

You can have 18-20 kids on a Freshmen and JV team. Everyone would have gotten better.

  11. Funny, I think you will will wreck tonight's perfect record with your ND vs UMICH prediction. And I am a Michigan fan. GIMOM

  12. IMO, it's a little harsh to say that Milan mortgaged it's future by not fielding a JV squad this year. That makes it sound like Hoskins needed to play all these sophs on varsity in order to get a few more wins, leaving the JV with too few players to even have a team.

Hopefully the sophs (I think there are 8 on varsity) are learning in practice because I don't see many (any?) on the field under the lights.

I'll come back and write some more on this later. Great win tonight, Milan!

  13. wow.. BOLD prediction.. I truly hope its true, would love to see that score or a similar outcome.. JUST DON'T know if the Wolverines can do it for a whole game against ND.

Regardless, great game coming at us tomorrow.

  14. Great picking this week Mr. Huron League blogger..

I think the highlight was the Flat Rock victory.. Great to see that program on an upward swing.

Jefferson alumni, parents, and supporters have been begging for the next "coaching regime" to take over for the last 5 years. There are LOYAL assistant coaches that have been waiting for the change as well.. Regardless, every year those young men step on the field and do their best. I hope the current regime realizes its time before the infrastructure crumbles or goes elsewhere to coach.

Jefferson can win again, just as Flat Rock is proving.

Airport with another huge loss. Congrats Islanders. The Jets Offensive line seems to be the huge issue….

You gotta love the Huron League, great to see a surprising team dominate the league. Its all up to the hard workin boys at Milan to finish in style.. They should probably enjoy the success this year, since they mortgaged their future not fielding a JV squad. (to Chris's point about the JV team).

    GOTTA LOVE Friday Night lights..

  15. I have been around Jefferson for years, there are a lot of stories I could tell you about Cisco that would make all of you agree that its time instead of sticking up for a coach during bad times. We will see what happens once again at the end of the year. The kids deserve better, from an insider, not a parent.

  16. Airport played well but lost interest in the 4th qtr. Line is uninspired and coaches scared to toss the ball. Running game is over. Spread it way out and find some JV kids to catch a football!

  17. I was referring to the Jefferson game. If there was discipline, there wouldn't have been those frustrating personal fouls. Have you ever seen CC do that?? win or lose. That is something the coach has to enforce. I coach, been there, done that, its all about the coach and his rules. That carries over to the players, parents and fans, then they don't start petitions and MF the coach.

  18. I thought Jefferson played hard. Huron played very well tonight. Jake Bailey had one of the best hits I have ever seen in high school when he lit up Granticelli on that option play.

  19. Every parents thinks that their kid is a Division 1 football player and that if the player does not play D1 than it is the coaches fault. You even see 2nd string players with Berecruited.com profiles, it is a joke. ESPN televises high school games which just contiues the circus act.

  20. The parents at Jefferson have been crying about Cisco for at least 5years probably more. They want him fired and talk bad about him to other parents, of course the players dont respect them with mommy and daddy telling him how screwed they are to play for Cisco. Jefferson players are lazy, they look small and skinny. They do not care about discipline and being the best that they can be. That falls on the players and parents. Crying about the coaching is not going to do anything, they just need to suck it up. It seems that Jefferson parents want their kids to be lazy and enjoy being medicore.

  21. Hey, Milan D was truly impressive against a vaunted SMCC running O.

They just plain shut them down. It was one for the record books. When do you see SMCC O ever go almost 4 full quarters without a TD?

September 21, 2012, against the Milan Big Red D, that's when.

Offense drove it, made lots of first downs when needed.
Kept the game out of reach. Even with some mistakes–interception, bad snaps, and some untimely penalties–these guys got it done.

It was a hard fought game and SMCC played well too.

    Huron league…pretty good football!

  22. Well… I would say that happens because parents are MFing the coach at home and starting petitions. What do you think that does to a players respect for the coach.

I've personally been on both ends of the coaching equation. Does a coach suddenly forget how to coach?

I remember griping about my basketball coach in high school to my dad. He told me to stop crying like a little baby and listen to my coach. Do you think that happens anymore?

  23. You are right Chris however, The poor sportmanship I saw from Jefferson was shameful. Those players reacted out of frustration. Not with their opponent but their performance. In that situation I have to point the finger at the coaching. No control over those boys! At one point Jefferson had personal fouls called against them 5 plays in a row. I realize emotions run high but if the players respected their coach, there would have only been one unsportsmanlike conduct called because anything after that would not have been tolerated. Im sure you were there and know exactly what I'm talking about. Good game Bears, you played hard, keep your heads up. We Huron fans know your frustration with losing. Next week is a new week, play hard!

  24. In football, especially at games and with play calling, coaches make a big difference. But some years there is not a lot of talent to work with.

A change often means a couple years rebuilding, learning a new offense, etc.

If he is a coach who truly cares about kids, has good leadership, and won in the past, then you have to consider those things. There are a lot of schools that fire coaches to get more wins but the new guy doesn't do much better. Or has character issues.

Still, older coaches sometimes need to know when it is time to hang it up.

  25. Good coaches and good programs are all about the discipline. Thats why SMCC is so successful. DISCIPLINE! Coach G will work them kids buts off after losing tonite. Think Jefferson, Airport and Riverview will do that? NOPE
Monday will be just another day at practice for them. CC will probably practice Sunday.

    1. The differents is that all the kids will show up for cc. The other kids won't. U can blame the parents on that one. I'm sick of hearing the shit u guys put on this blog. Would all the parents on your team make there kids go on Sunday. Cause that's wear it starts. The parents the parents the parents. R u Jefferson parents really read for that!!! R u willing to be the best parents in the league?

  26. When you win it's the talent, when you lose it's the coach. Some things never change.

Jesse Hoskins was the worst now he is the best. Cisco was the worst, then best now worst again. John Bodner was the worst now the best. It never changes people.

  27. Cisco must go! Jefferson pathetic tonite. No fire, no motivation, coach isn't getting it done. Rumor has it, petition has started, we'll see what schoolboard says.
    20-6 embarassing, come on!!
    Got the talent, use it!!

  28. Milan looked very good. Definitely team to beat. Very big line, controlled whole game. SMCC didn't move the ball until 4th quarter when MIlan 2nd string was in. 6 points was a kickoff return.
Way to go Milan, no doubters anymore.

  29. Was at the Milan -vs- SMCC … I and really impressed with Milan's defense they held SMCC off the scoreboard offensively untill about 8 min in the 4th and then gave up another TD late…they looked real good both ways tonight…good job boys keep it up.. Big Reds!

  30. Wow, I thought GI offensive line was a question mark! They look pretty darn good to me. And to think they are made up of two juniors and a sophomore! Can't wait till they grow up. I like what I see.

  31. Chris felt bad for all the past beatings that Airport has put on GI and posted the score wrongly just to rile up the people who like to make fun of Sitofn and his usually wrong predictions.

  32. I have a sneaking suspicion it may be all quiet from the Islanders tonight… SITOFN has been hushed again.. LMAO… 28-14 Final

  33. Horrible piece in the paper yesterday about Hoskins and Giarmom, they always have to spin things to make SMCC look elitist and cake eatey. Milan is winning, Keep it up Big Reds.

  34. Should be a great night of football … would love to go to all four games, but not possible. To everyone in this blog, please post scores as often as possible … Good luck to all the teams that they play to the best of their ability. We, the fans, thank you the players!!!
