Grosse Ile @ Milan

Both teams enter this matchup at 3-0. Milan hammered Huron last week 35-8 while Grosse Ile beat SMCC 21-15. The Red Devils won last year’s contest 41-32.

Milan looked unbeatable against the Chiefs last week. The Big Reds literally ran the ball every play except when needed. Arthur Dukes is easily the best player in the Huron League while the defense is solid.

Grosse Ile is a team that just finds a way to win. They run the ball almost exclusively and the defense is just good enough.

I am not sold on the Islanders as of yet and Jesse Hoskins has done a wonderful job of turning things around after last year’s debacle at Milan. With that said, I’m going to play a hunch this week. Pick:Grosse Ile 28 Milan 27

  1. The "DUDES" are gonna have to find a way to shut down the running game early or it's gonna be a LONG game for 'em. 35-14 Milan. Go Big Reds!

  2. DUDE's = GI Defense

    Defense with an Attitude!

    "D" with a "TUDE"……"DUDE"

The "Y" boys are bringing IT, one tough bunch of DUDE's!!

Last year GI found a D, this year they found one with an Attitude, DUDE!….Class dismissed.

  3. Robert Kanitz, a junior out at Milan gets a vote for best all around player in the league…that guy has just put out at three positions RB, QB, and Safety…doing it all with aggression.

  4. The in the tight game stuff is funny. Doesn't affect high school ball. "uh oh we are in a tight game… Now what? I forgot how to block and tackle all of a sudden"

    Dumb!!!

  5. I would say Dukes is the best offensive player in the league and McCormick is the best all around in the league. I believe the fact that Milan hasn't been in a tight game will hurt them, GI 20-14. EM

  6. Defenses may prevail…I see a lower scoring game as it is the first time either offense has faced a strong opponent.

    Milan 28-14

    Looking forward to it!

  7. I believe that GI will eek this one out. If you have seen any of the games played. Even if the Devils look that they may not have a chance to win the game they seem to get stronger as the other teams are getting gassed. Small, fast and in shape will beat big by the end of the game.

  8. Last I checked its 2012 and 2 red machines collide THIS YEAR, not last.

I see a toss-up here on both sides of the ball…but DUDEs will be the difference again like last week.

Both O's will grind the ground but GI showed signs of arial improvement last week and may be required.

D is the Key…. Less than touch spread.
    Red Devils leave happy: 20-15

  9. Waiting to see if the family wants to go down to Riverview. If not I will run out to Milan. Pretty easy drive from downtown Waltz. The Gravity Brewery is on the way home too!

  10. I agree that cooler heads are needed this year. It got way out of hand last year. Hopefully the boys that were on that JV team last year can overcome their emotions and play some good football. Should be a great game. Are you attending Chris?

  11. Good hunch, it will be tough though as Devils travel to hostile territory. Last year's JV at Milan was rough, nearly ended in a fight. Hopefully cooler heads will keep this game competitive but controlled. The refs need to establish control early and be even handed. Then the fans should be in for some stellar football.
