Both teams are coming off of losses. SMCC (3-2) lost at home to Milan 35-22 while Riverview (2-3) fell at Flat Rock 38-3. The Pirates won last season’s game 31-29.
SMCC keeps getting better and most likely lost to a better team in Milan last week. The Falcon ground game should give the porous Pirate run defense problems this week.
Up until last week Riverview proved they could score points using their speed. The defense was shredded by Flat Rock last week and much of the season.
Riverview’s Jeff Stergalas is a coach who can usually match wits with veteran SMCC coach Jack Giarmo. This game could be a runaway but I see it as being a close game. Pick: SMCC 30 Riverview 21
Well said 8:33. I agree totally, its fun to see everyones theories and predictions, but in the end that sums it up. It happens at all levels.
Maybe everyone should play on Tues, Weds, or Thurs. Sounds like there might be more focus on those days. Just kidding.
You have to play the games instead of going by the numbers. Anyone can beat anyone any given Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. All levels of football we see the unthinkable in upsets, but every week it still happens. High school kids get preoccupied with many things other then focus on sports. So the idea of upsets and teams looking good one week and terrible the next happen often. So for what it's worth expect one or two surprises in the huron league. Good luck to all.
Rebounding wins championships. Oh wait…
At this point in the season evey team should have worked out all the tweaks that they were having in the beginning of the season, there's no reason a defense should give up more than 14 ppg anyhow. Thinking SMCC run away with it off the simple fact that Riverviews defense just isn't there.
Defense wins championships!
I see riverview upsetting smcc. It's going to be a close game but I can feel the view coming together this week. 21-20 the view.
Good blocking in the middle should keep Riverview in this. Milan tore CC up going through the middle.
Should be close, but CC will prevail 28-20.
