Riverview @ Grosse Ile

The teams enter this rivarly on opposite ends of the league spectrum. Grosse Ile improved to 6-1 on the season with a victory over Huron while Riverview fell to 2-5 with a loss to Milan. Riverview won last season’s game 31-21.

Grosse Ile has a stout defense and an offense that runs the ball well and is opportunistic with the pass.

Riverview has a solid ground game offensively but continues to struggle on defense.

Grosse Ile appears to be poised for a solid playoff run while Riverview is hoping to build confidence for next year. Pick: Grosse Ile 34 Riverview 20

  1. cc is just mad cause you lost this year. no one likes your blind predictions and why are we talking about these sophmores. btw Gillam doesnt start. get your facts straight.

  2. It's time to bring home the Colvin Cup!
This week's game against Riverview is the MSHAA game of the week!
The MHSAA's television partner, PlayOn! Sports, will be at Grosse Ile High School on Friday to cover the Grosse Ile-Riverview game. The game will be shown the following Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.; Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.; Saturday at 3 p.m.; and Sunday at 6 p.m. on Comcast Channel 900. The game will be available online that week for Xfinity subscribers at Xfinity.com/HighSchoolSports, and highlights will also be available on the Xfinity on Demand service. The games will not be available on the MHSAA.tv website. In addition, they will have crews coming out to practice this week to shoot some footage and conduct interviews.

  3. I dont see them making excuses their just saying the same thing you are. Your making blind predictions about tour team and so are they. The only difference is the players he is talking about were on the team last year that spanked cc. Their coach took the peddle off the gas before half time or the score would of been similiar to your score this year. If GI had their Sophs on jv you would not of beat them like that. Probably not at all. Mitroka would of ran all over you like he did last year as a freshman. (and this year as a soph vs your varsity) so please stop your prediction talk and look at the actual varsity proof.

  4. G.I. Don't make excuses about ur J.V. they just got beated out behind the wood shed by cc j.v. 54-0 3 more guys wouldn't made a difference. take ur beating like real men!!!!!

  5. @12:17 Sorry, cant listen to your crap. These are kids. GI JV has come miles. When they played SMCC, they were missing 7 of 11 starters to injuries (and that does not include the 3 kids on varsity) Each program views their JV teams a little differently. Some are like varsity, play your top talent and win. Some, use JV to develop their players abilities and mix it up more. Lets just let next year's varsity teams prove themselves then.

Besides, instead of LT, Reggie White and Butkis, you'll have Phil Camilleri, Andy Mitroka and Max Gilliam. Take Note!

  6. Not sure about your Taylor, White, and Butkus comparison, but all three are varsity starters as sophomores. I'll take the three varsity starters, you take the JV kids, and I'll whip you everytime!

  7. SMCC has 3 freshman players on the JV that would be varsity starters on any other Huron League team (blazing fast isn't enough to describe them because they are also tough kids). If you haven't been to a SMCC JV game or don't plan to go to one, you'll have to wait until next year to see them. The three GI players that moved up to varsity better be Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White and Dick Butkus if you expect to stop the future SMCC offense … because SMCC JV whipped GI JV 54-0.

  8. Grosse Ile will be best in Huron league next 2 years. SMCC only dominating at JV level cause 3 GI players playing varsity. Trust me you put those kids on JV and GI JV goes undefeated.

    1. Not with three kids…… There is NO talent on GI's JV level. They wouldn't have done any better than they did this year. Get over yourself.

  9. With FR and GI improving their programs and SMCC dominating at the JV and freshman level, it will be a long time before Riverview contends in this league. Throw out the history this year, GI rolls big over weakened Riverview.

  10. The cup is staying where it belongs.. in riverview. The Bucs will have no problem getting up for the game unlike in the past. Riverview's D will have to step up but they are due for a win. Riverview 42-28
