Grosse Ile @ Detroit Country Day

Grosse Ile (10-1) is coming off of a 70-51 victory over Robichaud while Country Day (9-2) is fresh off a victory over Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 14-12. These two team last met on the gridiron in 1952 when the Red Devils knocked off the Yellow Jackets 25-12.

Offensively Grosse Ile has relied on the three-headed monster of Andrew Mitroka, Jordan Nellenback and Brian Christen this season. The trio has accounted for 41 TD’s this season. Defensively, Chris Trombley and Danny McCarty lead a defense that has done just enough to reel off seven straight wins.

Country Day is led by QB Tyler Wiegers. The tall and athletic junior has loads of interest from MAC schools and has turned some heads of the coaching brass in Ann Arbor. The Yellow Jackets boast three other players that any school in the state would love to have. Junior RB Richard Wilson and junior WR Moe Ways are being heavily recruited along with senior OL/DL Poet Thomas.

On paper this looks like a rout for the home team but make no mistake the boys from the island in the middle of the Detroit River know how to play football. Pick Country Day 28 Grosse Ile 21
