Milan @ Grosse Ile

Milan (4-0) is coming off of a 20-7 victory over Huron while Grosse Ile (3-1) lost the battle of unbeatens last week to SMCC 29-8. Milan won last year’s contest which ended up deciding first place  21-14. The Big Reds are 10-3 against the Red Devils since they rejoined the Huron League.

Milan continues to roll through the Huron League. Robert Kanitz continues his excellent play and the Big Red defense has been solid.

Grosse Ile must figure out a way to score without the leagues top offensive threat. The Islanders have plenty of weapons and with a week to prepare they should be okay. Defensively they should be fine with one of the better units in the league.

Grosse Ile has been wanting payback since last season’s loss and there is no reason to think that still can’t happen. I promised I wouldn’t pick against Milan again until they burn me. Pick: Milan 17 Grosse Ile 14

  1. @2:38. Your comments are fine except it isn't going to be a running clock. I think you are just trying to stir stuff up. These are both good teams (4-0 and 3-1). It may or may not be close … but it won't be a running clock. Stop it would ya.

  2. I expect a good game here. Milan's diversity on offense has served them well, but the GI defense should be the best they have seen since the Ypsi game. I expect that D to be up to the challenge of taking pressure off of the GI offense. The GI offense vs. Milan defense matchup should be interesting as well. I might feel better about this game if it were in Milan, but there will no doubt be a ton of emotion from the home fans on the island tonight. In a game played by young men, that could make a big difference…

  3. Chris you have said time and time again no one is to dog any of these players!! Well you have allowed them to do this with the Lindeman kid. Really?!? These are kids, boys who go out every week and give their all. You guys need to grow up and stop bullying these boys!! They play for the love of the game!!

  4. Milan's freshman running back is a nice surprise. Tough as nails and fast as an ethiopian chicken! Kanitz is strong as ever. The defense is swarming. My guess is a blow out. Running clock by the middle of the 3rd.

  5. Too much at stake for Milan. They will be up for this one.

Only a number if ill-timed turnovers would put them behind.

If both teams play a clean game then Milan will drive and score at least 3-4 times.

On film you can see that Kanitz, Lindeman, and the Milan receivers give opposing teams a bit too much to worry about.

GI would have to score 3-4 times to beat them. That is hard to see happening.

    Milan, 21-7.

  6. Tough call. If Mitroka was playing GI by at least a td. Without him i still expect a good game. GI's defense will keep them in it. Milan 20 GI 14. EM

    1. He hasn't had a good game since riverview. I give the young guy some credit but he is too small and not strong enough to be dominant. Give him a couple more years. Kanitz is the whole run game right now.

    2. That's funny because Lindeman has been in the top 5 for rushing yards every week!! You sound like an idiot!! The big reds are a "team" together they make a great team.

    1. GI was missing Golliam at center and DT. THey don't grow big strong kids there. I think it's the pollution from the power plant. Lol. Milan just needs to pound the middle both ways, sadly. Milan by 10.

  7. I can admit that Mr.Mitroka was a good player but one kid doesn't make a team. There were key players on that GI defense that didn't play against CC. With those key players returning I expect them to step up at home without Mitroka and win this game.

  8. Milan's run game has only been average since the riverview game. Besides Kanitz that is. Grosse Ile has a solid defense and will win if they can shut down Kanitz. The freshman for Milan honestly doesn't make an impact in my book. Grosse Ile will win. Even without Mitroka they have the athletes to win this game. 28-21 Grosse Ile.

  9. ok it takes a hole team to be good not one player.unless Mitroka can make it rain for 7 days and 7 nights. Milan would still win. They are the champs from last year and are better than last year the stats show that.
