Why not consider moving your blog into a message board that links to your blog? With two leagues involved, you would probably get enough posters to support it. I happen to know that http://www.excoboard.com runs free boards that are easily manipulated so that it can be whatever you want it to be, and you can utilize html to create your own look and feel to the page. Take a look at some of the pages already there…you may be interested.
Tired of fighting a losing battle. If they add football at the school it will be because they decided to all on their own. I'm ready when they are.
They added it last year. I scheduled games, hired coaches and had equipment ready to order and they told me they decided to put it off. I had to call everyone with my tail between my legs. That won't happen again.
Kinda of like betting against Milan?
Though a couple of years ago you were going to shut this down because ATA was getting a football team. Is that not the case anymore?
I obviously don't do as much as I used to do but that is what makes it easier I suppose.
Picks, scores and thoughts doesn't take much time and readership is at an all time high.
You have backed off on quality on this blog since it first started. Seems you don't have much time anymore. How are you going to do 2?
Yea, I am doing it on my own. I had enough request. I work with and know coaches from the DRL so I will have solid info. Making the picks is easy and something I enjoy.
I would love to match wits with the NH guys who pick each week. I would have beaten them all the last 4 years!
Great point on the DRL regarding the playoffs. Those teams beat each other every year and only one can come out of the district. I wish the state would split them a bit. It would be very easy to send a school north to Detroit or Dearborn, west toward Belleville and south toward Monroe. This year shook out a little different than usual though.
Chris are you going to do both? Or do you have some help with the blog? I love that it's expanding and I think you do a lot of homework on HL teams, but Downriver squads?? Dang!! Nice work!!
Each year the Downriver League usually qualifies 4-5 teams for the playoffs. Last season all were in the same district. That means only 1 team can advance past the district. That team Wyandotte made it to the regional finals. This year 3 of the 4 are in the same district. They knock each other out. In the Huron League SMCC will never play a league opponent and many years schools like Milan and Airport were not in the same district because they are not that close geographically together so both teams have chances to advance. Also Allen Park has been to 2 state finals in the past few decades. In the DRL because of district pairings only one team has a chance to really advance.
Well we are going to find out pretty quickly aren't we?
Not to slam Downriver Football but when you compare those teams in that league to schools in their divisions they are pretty weak. When have any of them done anything special in the last decade or two ? Pound for pound the Huron league is pretty good and pound for pound the downriver schools are not that good. Teams in the downriver league should beat the huron league teams because they are bigger but only two teams I see from there would win the Huron League.
Weakest?
