SMCC (8-1) is coming off of an impressive 49-20 win over Lansing Catholic Central while River Rouge (7-1) blasted winless Detroit Henry Ford 52-0. These teams last met in 1988 with SMCC winning that game 12-6. SMCC holds the all time series edge 9-2.
River Rouge returned to a repectable program in 2010 with the arrival of coach Corey Parker. The former Detroit DePorres and Eastern Michigan player has led the Panthers to 4 straight playoff appearances.
The Panthers have averaged over 50 ppg since an opening game shut out loss to state power Lowell. Rouge is led offensively by Juan Kemp and Justin Patterson. Defensively, Havert Beal and Kelan Reeder lead the defense which has pitched three consecutive shut outs.
SMCC continues to just do what they do. The Falcons run the ball effectively with a host of RB’s led by Josh Czarniowski. The offense is led by signal caller Bryce Windham and averages 40 ppg on the season. Defensively, the Falcons have struggled the last four games but three of those games still resulted in victories.
This is a tough game to figure out. Rouge has been impressive against a schedule that resembles a JV team with the exception of week 1. SMCC’s only loss came at undefeated Milan. It might take the Panthers a quarter to get going after playing teams that were a combined 0-26 the last three weeks. That may be too little too late for Rouge against this traditional state power. Pick: SMCC 36 River Rouge 18
Hence, the reason I said I was off to watch Milan play because watching CC is the same thing. Didn't know that had to be "explained" LOL!
From a father of a Big Red, good luck to you SMCC ! I hope your play off run ends at Ford field ! #9
Good Luck SMCC! You have continued to make our community proud!
NOBODY should be sleeping on Rouge. They made an excellent run last year and this team is better. This game is close.

Id rather watch the Spread at Huron. Now THAT is funny!!!

I thought that was pretty darn funny by me.
The full house T is the single most effective HS offense in the history of HS football in America.
SMCC's offense has deception. Who has it? That in itself can be fun to watch. Not to mention they can put points up.
Rouge runs single wing along with some read option.

So you would rather watch SMCC?
I hope River Rouge isn't running the single wing. I'd rather watch Paint Dry. Off to watch Riverview I go
Don't hang your hat on past accomplishments CC. The Rouge is for real. The have the ability to beat quality teams. They just happen to play in a weak conference.
Don't laugh at the single wing. Menominee has 3 state titles running the single wing. It doesn't matter what offense you run, it's how you run it that counts.
CC should have an easy time this week. CC 42 RR 12. EM
I heard Rouge runs the single wing. I remember Riverview tried running that offense a few years ago with hilarious results. I just don't see how Rouge stops the CC offense, I doubt they seen any offenses like it. I expect this game to resemble the CC/Ecorse game of a few years back. The metro conference is not as good as the huron league obviously.
