  1. With Jefferson's QB Justin Kull being out for the rest of the season it means the backup QB needs to step up and so does the Defense, the next 3 games are going to be interesting for Jefferson.

  2. The schools that seem to be better in sports seem to always have more parents involved. Schools that have a community to support them do better most the time. Go to a event for one of the less winning schools and there will be less parents supporting and the student section will be smaller. Go to a school with lots of parent support and the student section will be larger. Support helps build the drive to want to win. It all connects.

  3. SMCC vs Riverview should be a great game winner will probally go undefeated. Not that it really matters but that momentum could carry over to the varsity level

  4. You are avoiding the key part of this discussion. What about the other teams are winning? You fail to acknowledge that fact. Blaming it on lazy kids is a cop out excuse by people who have never coached or by bad coaches.

By your logic, Airport had lazy kids from the 50's until 1998. Then from 98 until 2012 they had hard working kids with good parents. Now they are lazy again. Riverview had good parents with lazy kids every year since 2000, except 02, 04 and 11, when they had hard working kids who weren't lazy.

  5. yes and the leaders they see for most of their lives are their parents. Don't expect coaches to save or change every kid. Not gonna happen. Parents need to be more involved in a positive way! Mike B gets it. He isn't blaming kids, he's saying they are lazy because the opportunity to sit inside and do nothing or their parents make excuses for them to be lazy. so yes attitude does reflect leadership!

  6. "Kids are more lazy and don't want to do what it takes to play a sport and be good. (most kids, not all)"

I couldn't disagree more. It really bothers me when people blame it on the kids. If that was the case, no school would have a good team. But some teams are still winning.

Kids are kids. It is the coaches job to set the tone as far as commitment and leadership. Attitude reflects leadership.

  7. What has happened to Jefferson football? Back when I played (less than 10 years ago) , Jefferson was always one of the top 3-4 teams in the league. I'm not trying to bash them but is it a talent problem? participation problem? coaching?
