Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard @ SMCC

SMCC (9-1) is coming off of a 30-14 playoff victory over River Rouge while AAGR (8-2) defeated Ida 42-6. The two teams last met in 2003 when the Falcons won by a score of 40-0.

SMCC struggled a bit last week with River Rouge. Offensively, the Falcons will run the ball with their three-headed monster of John Lako, Justin Carrabino and Josh Czarniowski. Expect them to throw the ball just enough to keep the Irish defense off balance.

Defensively, the Falcons will be put to the test by the pass happy Irish. Defensive backs, Joshua Knabb and Bryce Windham will have to be on top of their game. Look for the super sophomores Kevin and Craig Couturier to put pressure on the AAGR running game.

AAGR is led by dual threat QB Kevin Masini. The 5-10 senior may put the ball up as many as 25 times on Friday. Senior RB’s Haylin Newlin and DJ Straub should see plenty of carries on the ground for the Irish.

Defensively, the Irish Catholics from Ann Arbor (seems like an oxymoron) are giving up just 14 ppg and are led by senior LB Nate Winnie along with junior LB’s Kenny Kowalski and Matt Johnson

Tough game this week to pick. Both of AAGR’s losses are to powerful Detroit Loyola while SMCC’s only lost was to undefeated Milan in week 6. Pick: SMCC 30 AAGR 27

  1. Milan fan here. I hope you SMCC boys play hard and keep winning. Good luck tonight. Your my favorite team other than my Big Reds!!

  2. Looks like this game is overshadowed by Milan-Melvindale, which is a shame cause this one could be just as good. CC 35 AAGR 34. EM
