  1. ok lets talk about the other half..how did Jefferson, flat rock, Airport and Riverview look in their scrimmages?

  2. Jefferson skilled positions on offensive side of ball looked OK from Qb.to receivers Qb has good strong arm receivers seem capable their tall .should be missed match a lot against db and linebackers.problem is o-line .blocking must improve. for it to work ..defense is capable the linebacker and secondary .have to play run strong ..pass defense need rush to help back end of d

  3. Milan will be just fine this year. Watching the 3rd string running back move the ball with the o line. Got to stay healthy. Going to be tough to stop.

  4. Maybe Trenton is not that good, but don't think the drl is not head and shoulders above the Huron League. Melvindale beat Milan and Riverview last year and was the third place team in the drl. Trenton is a lower/mid tier program in the drl.

  5. Milan has 5-6 kids banged up. Dressed 21 kids in the scrimmage. They handled everyone easily yesterday, but didn't play anyone good. One Defense didn't give up a td on the day. Staying healthy will be important to everyone in the league this year.

    Milan Fan

  6. isn't Marc Gonyea coaching Trenton still? He was our 7th grade football coach, and after that, he was offered a position at Trenton as Varsity head coach. He still there?

    KC

  7. Trenton has sucked since the creation of the downriver league but that hasn't always been the case. Jack Castignola was a great coach at Trenton, Trenton even had a team beat OLSM. It is a little mendacious to act like Trenton has always sucked.

  8. "Lets call this the SMCC/Huron League Blog. Tired of it"

ahhhhh the truth comes out.. an agenda.

bn lives in a much different time zone.

  9. 1tout
verb ˈtau̇t, in sense 4 also ˈtüt

: to talk about (something or someone) as being very good, effective, skillful, etc.

  10. Its 1 game guys relax. SMCC aren't world beaters and Trenton doesn't suck. Theres no winning on this blog against CC is there. Lets call this the SMCC/Huron League Blog. Tired of it. I guess were all experts.
bn needs a life up at 2 am just to dispute stuff I put on here. Come On. Always large chips on those SMCC shoulders especially for what you pay a year.

Besides we all know the first scrimmage is just a measuring stick of how much you practiced before August 11th.

  11. SMCC is in a down year. Lost too much to graduation and transfer. 6-3 at best. Just like was said a few times on another thread. He has to know what he is talking about, right? I mean he said he knows the kids…..

  12. You can argue my point until the cows come home here, but Trenton was not very solid. Yes, the QB was good… Infact he probably ran the ball 20+ times in the scrimmage… But the team is not physical and they lack any form of concepts in the passing game.

That is not to discredit CC. They put a whooping on them. They looked solid in all phases. They have three backs that can score at will….

However…. I was not impressed in the slightest with Trenton. It will be interesting to see CC against the top of the HL. Championship caliber for sure.

  13. I agree SMCC is very good and well coached. No disagreement there. Facing the T. I know Truman was very good last year. However, Trenton gave up 66 points to Truman last year. Do you think are well coached to stop the T?

  14. Trenton was 4-5 last season in the Downriver League. They have an excellent QB, a veteran coach coach and maybe the best kicker in SE Michigan. They are far from awful. They also see the straight T from Taylor Truman.

They would have beaten 4 or 5 Huron League teams last season.

  15. I can't argue that point because it's so absolutely ridiculous. Trenton has never been good at football and is the bottom feeder of their league. I'm sure they had no idea how to stop the T. My guess would be that St. Mary's touchdowns were 40 yards or more. Very well coached at what they do.

  16. Flat Rock is scrimmaging just Erie Mason. Huron has East, Garden City, Southfield Lathrup and Michigan Collegiate. Milan has Dexter and Lincoln Park. I don't really know the teams that will be at the others.
