SMCC is coming off of a 10-2 season which resulted in a second place league finish to Milan and a loss in the Division 5 Regional to Livonia Clarenceville. Falcon coach Jack Giarmo is the Dean of Huron League coaches and is entering his 17th season at his Alma Mater.
Offensively, the Falcons are led by senior signal caller Bryce Windham. He will have three capable RB’s to give the ball to. Junior Justin Carrabino leads the way, but seniors John Lako and Mitchell Lamour will see just as many carries. Clearing the way on the offensive line will be Mitchell Poupard, Kyle Bausman and TE Riley Woolford. Perhaps the biggest surprise for the Falcons is that they probably have the best WR in the league in senior Travis Vuich.
Defensively is where the Falcons will need to be at their best if they are going to unseat Milan as the league champs. SMCC will be led by senior DL Trystin Robinson, senior LB Troy Hilkins and senior safety David Howey.
While SMCC expects to be good every season, this is the year that the Falcon hopeful have been waiting for since their loss at Ford Field to Ithaca in 2010. The Falcons have a chance to get there, but first they must face a rugged non-league schedule plus one of the more talented Huron Leagues in a few years. Prediction 8-1
People should watch games more closely. Just when you say a player can't be replaced, another steps up……..in good programs that develop players. When a player is not committed to a program it can be detrimental to team play. Bo said it best, " the team, the team, the team."
Heard its more serious than that, may sit out a few games. Guess it depends on who you speak with. Either way he's not playing tonite. CC plays on Friday.
Structural injury, may play tonight.
What happened to Howey? Season ending?
You know it is sad when you have parents of former players trying to make it seem as if their kid was the reason the teams were successful. Other then the running back from last year ( and I think the group they have now will be as good as he was) all of their best players were juniors and a couple sophmores.
SMCC will have a respectable year, but not 8-1. Perhaps 6-3.
Last years class was the king. There is no way this years class will live up to those boys. Over the last 2 years those kids led the football, basketball and baseball programs farther than they have ever gone. This year will be good, but not 8-1. May go a ways in playoffs if get put back in the Manchester, Grass lake division. If head straight north, not so far.
Blanchette is more than capable.
And now they lost Howey to injury… SMCC gets spanked!
Don't forget Smcc lost 2 incredible players Kevin and Craig cout. It's a huge loss and I don't think they can live up to losing those 2 animals
You mean 2 decent sophomores who could be "animals" as seniors
