For the posters at 4:54 & 5:33 (and for any commenters in these multi-game threads), please be sure to at least mention one of the teams so we know which game you're talking about. You'll get more and better replies to your posts.
FWIW, I'll be posting my takes on the Milan-Marshall game later on.
Parent credo: "When we win, it's the players fault" "When we lose, it's the coach's fault".
I generally agree GI Parent, but they did a lot of good things too. First game, most of the starters were out BEFORE the half. Sometimes you just play to your competition especially in that first one. I'm happy with what I saw-a shutout, many forced turnovers, 2 blocked punts, a defensive touchdown, and Mitroka under center. Life is not that bad!
Hey in case you weren't watching your kid isn't better than dontel Hampton. He didn't play in the 3rd and 4th qtr on defense. He is their BEST player. He was injured. BTW GR had 10 kids going 2 ways LOL.
Flat Rock wasn't in a game last year. Last night those kids played hard and looked motivated and out hit Richard. Every HL team has their best players playing 2 ways. FR's best player cramped in the 3rd quarter and he barely played the 2nd half. I'd say if you want to blame oestrike for anything blame him for not having his kids in better shape. FR has 5 kids that belong on the field. maybe oestrike should make it little league and let everyone play and you can have running clocks like you did last year. FR kids have a new attitude and will continue to work. I still think they can compete with the lower half and have a chance against stockbrige
Talented kids that won't play for him? They wouldn't play for the last coach and the one before that and the one before that. Nobody can win with kids they don't have. If kids won't or don't play, it isn't because of the coach. It is because of their own lack of desire or willingness to be a part of a team. Period!
GI played a non talented out of shape team yesterday.
As a GI parent we have a lot of work to do once they start to play Huron League teams.
As we know it was the first game and things weren't as crisp as they should be but if they played a team with better talent it would not of been a blow out.
That being said they need to step it up against what will be a tough Huron team next week. I am not not picking on the GI team – We have a TON of talent but next week will be way tougher than this this game.
Bears right side O-line was very questionable, but they kept running plays that direction. Left side was solid. The few plays that went that way were successful. Too many holding calls by same kids. Need to work on footwork big time. Discipline truck better park in middle of field and stay awhile. Too many underclassman in important spots, need experience out there.
They moved up jv coach to offensive coordinator .to varsity thisyear his players on jv blocked caught passes well what happened
Why don't they have the talent? I feel it's because alot of talented kids can't and won't play for him so again the loss goes to tommy
That loss isn't on Oestrike. GR's # 14 was the difference in the game. He won the game1 He is an excellent QB who made plays including a pick 6 in the 1st quarter. FR has some holes defensively that they just don't have the talent to fill. The OLB and DE play just wasn't very good. FR is 100% improved from last season and you should be thankful for the hard work that the kids and coaching staff have put in.
Same old from flat rock who has talent. 11 kids play both sides of the ball and are gassed by the 4th. That loss goes to Tommy not the kids.
Jefferson defense did great in the 1st half. Offense of line is a huge problem couldn't run block or pass block. It seem as if the qb was getting pressured every pass attempt. Also the offensive play calling is a bit questionable too, with no many short screen passes, and no deep or middle routes.
Also never established run game ..a lot of holding calls cost Jefferson big play in first half .which let to ida TD..penalties a major problem.
Rough start for Bears. Offense needs some adjustments. Defense hung tough for awhile until offense repeatedly sputtered. They will get it together. Only 1 game.
Offensive line needs a lot off work no time to pass defense in back field really cost a problem to many penalties .stop offensive all night no run blocking defense fell apart second have

Milan played well in quarters 2 and 4 and very! sloppy in the 1st and 3rd. Hard to tell which team will show up next week.
But it was a great 4th quarter of high school football for everyone who was there. It was 14-14 and the Milan drive stalled at the Marshal 40. Milan completes a beautiful halfback pass for a 40 yard TD. Missed extra point. 20-14 with 4 minutes left.
Marshal quickly breaks a 55 yard run on the ensuing drive to go up 21-20 with 3:40 remaining. It looks bad for the Big Reds. But then Milan drives 75 yards and scores to go up 26-21 with 1:42 left. But it still wasn't over. Marshal drives down to the Milan 10 yard line with 18 seconds left. Their run game looks like it can score but with clock running down they go to the passing game. They try two passes and the second one is dropped in the end zone, but Milan is called for interference. Marshall gets a first and goal on the five with 6.2 seconds left. First pass is a close incompletion due to good pressure. We thought it was over but there are still 2 seconds are left. On the final play with the stingy Milan crowd finally getting loud the Marshal QB does a short drops back and Milan sacks him as time runs out. Great way to start a season. Film session might be a tough one though. Winning is not a given for Milan this year. The definitely miss the determination of a Kanitz to move a pile for a first down and the aggression of a Hoover on D to fill holes and make critical tackles. But flashes of great offensive play calling and execution showed up on two Milan drives. Offense will improve but can the D find themselves in one week's time?
Where are all the Jefferson fans talking about 6-3.
Congrats to Milan for beating a very tough Marshall team. Sacked QB on the 5 yd line as time ran out. Started 19 of 21 underclassman. Marshall looked like the better team most of the night, but Milan made plays when they had to. Congrats young men.
