Stockbridge @ Flat Rock

Flat Rock (0-8) lost to Huron last week 46-6 while Stockbridge (5-3) defeated Durand 61-19. Stockbridge won last seasons game 60-16.

The Panthers are a scoring machine that is averaging 45 ppg. They are also giving up 43 ppg. Stockbridge needs this victory to qualify for the playoffs.

Flat Rock has lost 17 straight games and this will be the last game for Flat Rock graduate and head coach Tom Oestrike before he leaves to take the athletic director job at Dundee.

I don’t think the Rams will be able to stop the Panthers high powered offense, but if the Rams can keep their turnovers and penalties to a minimum then they should put up some points. Call me crazy, but I think Flat Rock can win this game. Prediction: Flat Rock 48 Stockbridge 47

  1. Flat Rock has 3 people doing the AD job. Lafayette, Painter, and Oestrike (well he was). If Oestrike could teach, I think he'd already be there as a full time teacher by now. He's not a certified teacher. FR is terrible. They don't compete with anyone in football. Good thing they have the Villemure girls, girls bball is the only thing relevant there anymore

  2. The coach at FR was the best thing the school had going for it and the players believed in him. It is hard to be outmatched every week and compete when you are not getting the support form around the school or other coaches in the building encouraging kids to play. They have a mentality of one sport athlets in basketball there but when you step back and look they ar enot lighting the nets on fire! Kids should play as many sports as they can as it makes a more well rounded athlete and reduces injury caused by over use.

The bottom line is the FR refuses to hire a full time AD (shows lack of care for sports) and they had a coach who just wanted to be a full time employee. He grew up there, played there and came back to try and turn the program around which in turn is good for the school. After years of no action and a need to settle in to a career the choice became easy for Coach O. I am certain it was not easy for him to make the decision and if FR would have offered the same job I bet he would still be there.

So, you can ssume it was a bad record but the school did not care about that. Heck, they do not even have a trainer for their sports teams, why would they care about a record when they do not care about the kids well being? It is the little things like that that seperate programs. You think it is a coincidence that with the rise of the Huron youth football program, came a rise in enrollment, came a rise in funding from the State and came the most wins in a seaosn at Huron EVER? Hopefully Flat Rock can turn it around soon – the parents need to be vocal and call, send email and show up at school board meetings to get their way. Sad but these elected positions are supposed to do that on their own….whose interest do they really have in mind???

  3. 7:59 their coach is not leaving because they are "terrible" or because of the losses. Oestrike loves his players and they love him. He cares about those guys more than he cares about their record- he is the kind of coach you want for your kids.

  4. Flat Rock is terrible , About time their head coach leaves, figured after 17 soon to be 18 losses it would be time. Stockbridge has a powerhouse, defense they were slow but due to the fact they lost 1/2 their starting defense. Heard everyone is back, should be a easy butt whooping.

  5. lol….look at the teams stockbridge plays, then look at FR…it will be a close game. FR will score a ton but in the end I don't think they will stop Stock.
