Monroe Jefferson Preview

Jefferson enters the 2015 season hoping to improve on last years 2-7 record. This is coach Bruce Picken’s third season as the Head Coach for the Bears.

The Bears offense is led by senior Justin Kull who set a Jefferson record last season by throwing for nearly 1,100 yards. His favorite  target will be senior Corey Wilkins. Nick D’Alfonso and Nick Gill will anchor a veteran offensive line and will look to clear the way for junior RB Brandon Sovey and senior Drake Wohlgamuth.

The defense will need to improve after giving up over 30 ppg last season. There is reason to believe that will be the case with the return of senior Jaden Payette on the defensive line and junior Nick Humphrey at linebacker.

Jefferson opens the season on the road at Ida. The Blue Streaks finished 8-3 last season and beat the Bears in Monroe last year by a score of 29-0. Prediction: 2-7

  1. Jefferson will win more than 2 games. There is a lot of heart and devotion to the program. Could still have a freshman team this year, but chose not too because the only other school than has one nearby is Huron. Not many schools even have that option. Jefferson should come up with 4 or 5 wins if they can get the killer instinct. Seem to have it against SMCC, got to save it for the other schools. Won't need against SMCC anymore.
