  1. Maybe expressing concern over not having a freshman team in Riverview to the athletic director and presenting a possible solution to him is a better idea than complaining about it on a blog. Just saying….

  2. Riverview has 48 kids on the JV team 26 freshman 22 sophomores. They should have a freshman team lots of talented kids not getting to show it..what a waste..already talk of kids not coming back next season ..sad

  3. Just saw in the paper Hunter Kinsey who transferred out of Smcc because they wanted him to play guard on Varsity scored 3 touchdowns for Monroe..

  4. A flat rock jv win shaking up the blog, I love it. Those kids deserved it. everybody acts like flat rock was never good, hey can u tell me how many state titles does Milan, airport, Huron, or grosse ille has in football…… Yes Huron equestrian doesn't count. Jeeeez

  5. In 1996 Flat Rock JV lost to SMCC JV. In 1998 Flat Rock Varsity beat SMCC Varsity. The class of 1999 had a lot of talent but some big injuries their Senior year however were able to beat a team they lost to as Sophomores. However, we did have the best QB in Flat Rock history. He was a Sophomore playing Varsity and is now the AD at Dundee. A lot changes in two years but if athletes stay healthy and motivated JV can be a good indication of what can happen at the Varsity level. Great job by the young Rams! Keep working and you will keeping winning!

  6. My Lord, maybe not the same as yours; but all this banter and bickering over FR coming out on top of SMCC. I love it. The little guy IS getting glory!

  7. Awesome Job to FR, but remember JV doesn't mean a thing. Plenty of JV teams have struggled before and done well on Varsity, vice; versa. Looks like FR is trying to keep some kids together and they have nice JV numbers. I remember when I was in HS and a kid by the name of Oliver and a few stud Olinemen showed up at SMCC and they were blowing everyone out.. SMCC will "prey" and get a few new kids.. they won't allow this to happen next year.

  8. Solid job by FR. Can't remember the last time that happened. Also am curious as to what's going on with the two program's JV teams. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

  9. Good job to Flat Rocks JV. I hate to see any school struggle as they have. Hopefully that was not a fluke and their program is improving. I like to see parity.

Lets make light of Flat Rock improving and not why SMCC didn't win. Who cares.
We all have to accept our fate sometimes. Where's that SMCC class. Need to have it when you win and when you lose.

  10. Lots of JV chatter. That is a new thing.

I know many people say JV doesn't matter when determining success on the varsity, but that isn't necessarily true. It is a pretty good way to determine if a team will be successful on varsity. Yes other things like the amount of sophomores on a varsity team can skew results at the JV level. Also since most teams in the league with the exception of Huron have 9th/10th grade JV teams it really gives you a great perspective on the future. Huron is tough to figure out because they don't have any 9th graders on the JV. They have a very good JV team, but they also have a handful of freshmen who could help make them better if they didn't have a freshmen team. Incidently, I beleive Huron's Freshmen team beat Gabriel Richards JV team yesterday.

  11. Best sophomores are on varsity at SMCC. However school and football numbers are down. Including all the parish schools. Something to watch in the future at SMCC.

  12. Please stop coming up with excuses, you don't think flat rock has a ton of sophomores up on varsity eithier??? They just went 0-18!! Don't play the freshmen card, there was 1 sophomore on the flat rock line last night, a first year player at QB AND they still won. It's called playing thru adversity which Flat Rock has had a TON of. Great job flat rock, the coaching was fantastic, the players played awesome and it was a great win for our community!

  13. Great job, Flat Rock. It's funny. That every single moron thinks that SMCC recruits. Who cares that SMCC is the ONLY Catholic high school in Monroe County. Who cares that there are still many Italian, French, Irish, and other Catholic families who have lived in this area for decades that want a faith-based education. Who cares that these families have been sending their children to Monroe Vicarate Catholic schools for generations. Those things don't count for anything. We hang out in front of every public school in the state, wearing dark sunglasses, promising all kinds of wonderful things, if kids would only come to our school, so that our plan of screwing over the public school's sports programs, can come into fruition. It's real cloak and dagger, high espionage stuff. You caught us. We can't hide anymore.
Really? If there were a majority of Lutherans or Methodist, or even Baptists in the area at the time the former MCC opened, and they decided to open a high school for their families, would you Einsteins give them as much crap?
Here's the bottom line. You haters are all a bunch of jealous, small minded, idiots. We don't want, or expect you to root for us anytime soon. We've done just fine without you. But, like it or not, right now we are on top. If you don't like it, WIN! You play the hand you're dealt. I'm sure that our success won't last, nothing ever does But no one can blame us CC fans for enjoying that success. Huron has never had much success, do you think they aren't enjoying it now? Teams go up, teams go down. But if you think we're not gonna cheer for our team, you really are idiots.

    1. Let's not call everyone on the blog out here buddy, that's a lot of name calling for a few comments a couple individuals. I don't think the entire blog thinks SMCC recruits. I know they pretty much don't but no need to call everyone else an idiot for pulling the card. Come on, it's flat rock, what else do you expect?

  14. Airport needs to be better football hosts. They didn't have an American flag, we didn't have the pledge. There wasn't an announcer and the clock was a mess. Not sure what was going on there, but all of us have to get the necessary help when we host an event.

Jefferson has 38 kids on roster, 20 played before game was out of reach. We must rotate more. Got a lot of good kids on roster. Preached all week more rotation so starters didn't get gassed. Still didn't do it. ???

  15. Hey Flat Rock , your best athletes are from out of your district. Plus Dontel that left for Trenton. Sounds like you are recruiting. Oh yeah, that's what school of choice is.
