Define apathy at flat rock middle school?? Maybe the small amount of boys don't play football. That word is very negative towards the students. The amount of boys in those two classes is ridiculously low. That is the problem.
Jefferson would have continued to score at will in second half vs. Ida. The 1-2 punch of Sovey-Humphrey will be hard to stop. Ida played slightly better defense and had less turnovers. Only difference there if Sovey stayed in the game.
Ida definitely not as good as last year and Jefferson has improved.
All those people that criticize coaches on hear, grab a whistle, apply somewhere and coach. When you work with young players anything can happen, good or bad. Saying a coach gets out coached is total opinion, because you don't no squat about the team or their personnel. Why? Because your not there day in day out, just on game day. Watch some film and you'd see the facts. So shut your pie holes or put a whistle in it and coach. Put your money where your mouth is.
My point was to compare scores from last season and I do think FR is better this year, therefore it most likely proves my point that Summit is better as well.
Me asking for a Milan/FR prediction would most likely have proved that he is just being a homer.
Flat Rock is headed in the right direction, but they better address the apathy of the students down in the MS level. They need more than 20 boys in the 7th and 8th grade to play football.
Point taken on Summit. With junior camps and a greater emphasis on off season conditioning, hopefully the apathy subsides. I believe it has currently at the high school level. While it's always nice to win, parents/fans shouldn't beat their chest because of a dominating win over Summit. I, for one, hope that was expected, however I drilled into my son that you never can take anything for granted. Same speech works this week, just in reverse. Thanks,as always, for thoughtful discussion and insight.
How do you know Milan isn't taking anything for granted?
Because we teach them not too
#9 Dad
Milan is taking nothing for granted. Playing one game at a time. Out scout and outcoach your opponent by spending the most time in the film room and putting in the most work. Let the kids figure out the rest. Adrian was huge and had really good skill kids and Milan just ran it down their throne even when they put 8-9 in the box. Milan ran north and south and their o-line was impressive. I think Milan threw 3 passes all game. If it wasn't for the stupid penalties, Milan wins by 42. Lots of stuff to clean up, but personnel wise Adrian matched up pretty good with some monsters on the line. They returned 6 starters on each side of the ball, so a great win for an extremely young Milan team.

I'll answer for him, "whatever Hoskins wants the score to be."
Chris I do believe FR is vastly improved. They are more physical than I have seen in the past 3 or 4 years. They hit and tackle well. As for Summit…I'm not sure who the coaches are. I hate bashing anyone, but they seemed very out of sorts. Summit had a few athletes and decent size. They ran the same plays that didn't work all game. FR ran the same plays all night that did work. Only formation used all night was the I formation from FR. Higgy as far as I saw did not run the ball once. He was out at WR all night. FR had horrible penalties, late hits, targeting/helmet contact. All while up BIG. They do not have anyone that can match Milans speed. Milan if healthy wins big.
Lol. It's fine. I just want people to think before they post. I know the answers to the questions I asked. I would really be interested to see his pick for Friday.
Ask yourself two questions. What was the score last season of Summit/ FR? Is FR better than last season? I think I made my point
Try this, let's see you pick the Milan/ Flat Rock game. Come on genius, serve it up. Give us a score.
Chris, don't let people like that get to you. I have a hard time trying to figure out picks. You do a great job for most of your picks are very accurate. Keep doing what your doing, we enjoy it.

I am with you Chris. Hey 5:36 pm Let's see what happens when Flat Rock plays Milan this Friday. I think the score will be a little different. Maybe you can enlighten us on a pregame perdiction.
Chris,
I am not the original poster that called you out, but I'm a Flat Rock parent with a son on the team last year and this year. Sure, last year they won 60-6 and 48-0 this year. So because last year's point differential was 54 vs. 48 this year, last year was the better team? Flat Rock had a dynamic quarterback last year, who accounted for much of the offense. There is no replacing that, but this year the quarterback seems to be efficient and won't have to do as much. The team has much more depth, is stronger, more physical, and balanced. So, to answer your question, I feel this year's team is the better team. I'm not into predictions, so I guess only time will tell. There is no question Milan is not Summit. Friday night's game will be a huge challenge, and few if any will give Flat Rock a chance. Flat Rock has come a long way from the running clocks of four years ago. They may still have room for improvement, but nobody on this board really knows with absolute certainty. Anyway, just my two cents. Thank you, as always, for what you do.
Impressive win for GI.
Pawamo is ranked #1 in D7. return 18 starters from a team that played at Ford Field last season. Nobody likes a loss but SMCC competed well.
Flat rock may win but summit will be much improved I guarantee it……. Hahahahahaha! They beat em by 48. So much for 21-18
Easy there, highspeed. Flat Rock beat a little league team, there is a whole lot of season left. It isn't easy for Chris to pick every single game, especially the out of league ones. He does a hell of a job with all the information he collects and puts his name to it. Win more than 3 and then you can talk.

Play of the week
Ida made adjustments to stop run after that it was over . Jefferson.had know answer a good coaching at Ida rest of teams will see that hopefully bears can adjust
They were still running over them pretty well but the backup qb for Jefferson just couldn't do what Sovey did
As long as Jefferson can keep Sovey and Humphrey healthy, Jefferson will win 5-6 games. Sovey will be back next week against Grosse Ile, very minor injury. Jefferson's goal needs to be to keep those two healthy, and if they can: the offense will have fire power.
Are you a medical doctor?
Maybe he knows the kid?
Pewamo Westphalia was returning 9 on each side of the ball. Minus a few young errors. And a couple big breaks Westphalia got. Smcc most definitely could have won that game. They played fairly well for a two hour drive. They looked physically tougher then last years team as a whole. But we will see next week when they visit the View.
Closer game if Sovey stayed in for Jefferson. We get him & Flaherty back & Jefferson is giving other teams a run for their money.Ida is unbeatable & Jefferson held their own the 1st half.A healthy team & a closer game.
I wouldn't say Ida is "unbeatable" they made a lot of mistakes
GI had over 300 on the ground, and 75 in the air, Moskall and Vollmerhausen ran for one hundred yards plus a peice, and their new QB Sheppard had one hundred plus. The Devils dominated the trenches. Wieweara and Tromble were opening holes large enough to drive trucks through. Trombley led the defense with 10 tackles and a sack. The Devils are playing with a chip on their shoulder.
See Chris there is no way you can give this blog up! This is going to be a wide open league this year. Your having too much fun and we're just getting started. Thanks. Huron League Fan
Pewamo-Westphaila has made the playoffs 17 out of the last 18 years. They are 55-11 the last 5 seasons with 2 trips to Ford Field and two losses in the semis.
What division is Pewamo-Westphalia in?
I shouldnt have said P-W.
Oh gotcha. Have they been good over the last 10 years. Last year was the first thing I've really heard about them and I'm a pretty avid Michigan HS football follower
I was talking about the coach from Pewamo- Westphalia being better than 99.9% of coaches.
Hey Jefferson looked good today and they showed lots of talent against a good team! Huron league watch out don't sleep on Jefferson!!
Good start to the season for Airport. Next week will be a good test. EM
Correct me if I'm wrong but did Parma Western scrimmage SMCC a couple weeks ago and beat them? Or get the best of them-whatever you want to call it. Then GI just steam rolled Parma Western!!!
Ida would beat a lot of Huron League teams this year.
Didn't get to see the game, but when was the last time SMCC lost 3 in a row. Not trying to be a smarta$$, just curious.
Great job Milan. It was a well hard fought game. Way to keep grinding!

IDA KILLED JEFFERSON SO MUCH FOR THEM EVEN HAVING A CHANCE TO WIN THE
LEAGUE!!
Ida went undefeated last year and was one game from States. And the Bears put up 26 in the first half but couldnt overcome 2 big injuries
Jefferson QB sprained ankle on TD. Not sure how long he will be out. Had 3 TD's at half. Obviously, that killed the offense for the second half. Hopefully back soon.
No sleeping here, I picked Grosse Ile to tie for the league.
That guy from P-W will out coach 99.9% of the coaches in the state.
Guess that .1% is Jon Bodner
He's got a point
Agreed.
Misfid is a very good coach, but don't go that far. He had some crazy great talent at Dearborn. Parma will never win the league they are in over Luman, Coldwater, and Marshall. They just don't have the talent there being familiar with the area. I highly doubt Parma will even make the playoffs this year. He's a good coach, but I can think of about 20 better off the top of my head. Here are a few…… Munger, Herrington, Becker, Palka, dean at Lowell, Giarmo, Jeff wood…. The list goes on. But like I said. I like and have respect as someone who knows Dave.
Any word on what happened to the Jefferson QB?
foot/ankle injury
What did I tell ya! 41-21 Grosse Ile over Parma!!! The sleeping giant has been woke! Keep sleeping! #GoDevils

What's the score of Jefferson?
Lots of penalties and no blocking for Milan tonight. It's going to be a long season for these boys.
You're an idiot. Milan beat a pretty good team tonight. They are starting 19 new varsity kids. Do you not think they are going to make mistakes?
No blocking. They ran for over 400 yds lol
Jefferson anyone?
32-14 Romulus
PW 30 Smcc 20 to many mistakes by the young Falcons!
Coaching was also an issue. CC had an opportunity late in the 4th when it was 24-20 that slipped away because of poor coaching. PW is a better coached team.
