Huron League Thoughts and Questions

There is a very tough two weeks ahead.

Isn’t the object of the game to outscore your opponent?

Special teams are important.

Players play, Coaches coach.

I like the new Stroh’s.

Looks like the hibernation may be over.

Saw that same two point play attempt at least twice the week before.

Players play, coaches coach.

Game of the Week coming up?

I’m glad to see Josh Sheppard played this week.

Things should sort them themselves out this week or  really muddy the waters.

J.V. football matters to players, coaches and parents. That’s why I post the scores on Thursday.

You can play the best defense in the world, but if you can’t score, theoretically you would never win a game.

Look for expansion of the blog next season.

Many times “prevent defenses”, prevent you from winning.

  1. It's easy to be on here where you have a pedestal to stand on which no face or name to it. If you don't think the coach is doing a good job talk with the AD. Talk with the coach. Don't be the dad thats in the stands saying he should have called this after the play. It's easy to bad mouth coaches. It's hard to have there back when its not going well. If its a blow out the coaches have very little to do with that. If its close coaching matters. The top teams in this league can run any offense and win.

  2. I wouldn't say adding the names of people would help. What will help when folks get nasty with comments will be Chris being the gatekeeper and judge of what crosses the line (like he already is). What will also help will be for us (who are here for the right reasons) to call out people who are unfair to kids (because remember we are talking about kids ultimately).

A grammar checker might not hurt either. Some of these comments are hard to get through. We're looking at you, Jefferson English Department.

  3. There is no need to be nasty. The coaches and players aren't going to your job and saying that your sales are down or that you didn't sell enough big macs. There isn't one coach in the league that coaching is their full time job. They are mostly in not all teachers. They teach the game. For the most part the team with the best players win. If its a close game coaching will play more of a factor. Let the coaches coach and the players play. Tell your kid that they played hard, hope that they are having fun, teach them to be a good sport and try like hell to win every game. When the win congratulate them and when they lose teach them how to handle it and how to learn from it.

    1. Disagree, most of the time the team with the best coaches win. Overall, know kids born in one geography are not better than kids from a different geography.

    2. Bubbles all in all a great post! But I disagree slightly. Coaching is a payed position. Albeit peanuts. Probably less than a dollar an hour. It must be held to some scrutiny. If you go to get that Big Mac and find out there's no meat in there I bet you say something??? Coachs make a huge difference in games. Agree with the parents support you children regardless of winning or losing.

  4. Riverview has been working hard and it shows but can't shake the injury bug! They are down another starting LB/RB and a starting Safety!

    1. That's a good question! Especially when it is false!you shouldn't put out this info anyway but when it is false makes you look stupid.

  5. If Chris required names and email address the blog wouldn't be as much fun as it is. It would be way to "politically correct".

  6. You did on a few. It is easy to figure out if you notice that I go in order of power rankings from the week before. Starting with winners then the losers.

So in order 1-8 , I was talking about GI, Milan, Huron, Riverview, FR, Jefferson, SMCC and Airport.

  7. I'll try to answer this weeks questions:
There's a tough 2 weeks ahead: The best records in the league will collide.

Isn't the object to outscore your opponent: A lot of talk about Milan's D. Didn't they win?

Special teams are important: SMCC should have a kicker.

Players play, coaches coach: AIrport fans, just stop the whining about your coaches.

Looks like the hybernation is over: Riverview has finally shown results of their hard work.

Saw the same 2pt. conversion twice the week before: if you're not going to have a kicker, at least switch your 2pt. plays up a little.

Game of the week coming up: GI v. SMCC

Did I hit on some of these?
