FNV 2022 Defensive Player of the Year

Each year Friday Night Victors chooses a Player of the Year for offense and defense along with an overall Player of the Year. We also have our All Blog teams. Those will all be coming out this week. As always, let’s celebrate those who were chosen and considered for all of the 2022 awards.

Carlson’s Timothy Simons has been named Friday Night Victor’s 2022 Defensive Player of the Year. The undersized (5-9, 160 lb) senior LB was the catalyst for a Marauder defense that gave up a paltry 11.5 ppg in route to a 9-2 record and a third consecutive piece of the Downriver League Championship

Simons was a stat machine for what was arguably the best defense in the FNV coverage area. He recorded 134 tackles including an impressive 33 tackles for loss, 8 sacks and 8 forced fumbles. The 3-year starter also recorded 3 fumble recoveries, 4 pass breakups and 15 QB pressures.

Coach Jason Gendron’s Thoughts:  “Timmy was our leader.  Pound for pound, the toughest kid I’ve coached.  He had a knack for coming up with big play after big play for our defense this season.”

Simons also received honors as 1st Team All-League, 1st Team All-Region (MHSFCA) and 1st Team All-State (MHSFCA).

Others considered for the award were: Jack MIlls Airport, Austin Lipchick Riverview, Jake Iott Whiteford and Trey Bruggeman Bedford.
