Friday Night Victors All Blog 2022

This is the 5th annual Friday Night Victors All Blog team. As usual, it was tough with 16 teams and us picking an offense and a defense, especially with so many of our coverage teams making the playoffs this season. There will be 12 players on each side of the ball plus a kicker and a punter. We reached out to every coach asking for nominations. We heard back from almost everyone. Nobody will be listed twice. We also included our Overall Player of the Year, as well as, Defensive Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. We also included three Wildcard players, that are too good to keep off of our team. Click on the player’s name and you will see highlights for most of the players. As always let’s cheer those who made the team. We understand that good players won’t make it. That’s okay, it’s not a slight. These are the players that we went with.

Overall Player of the Year

QB/DB Shea Ruddy; Senior Whiteford

Friday Night Victors on Ruddy: Quite simply a great high school football player and ultimate leader that led his team to a state championship. Commitment to play at Hillsdale shows what others think of this young man.

Offensive Player of the Year

QB Graham Junge; Sophomore Flat Rock

Friday Night Victors on Junge: It’s hard to believe that a sophomore whose best sport is basketball is able to break Monroe County region records at a school that has struggled in football for years. It’s a testament to him, his teammates and his coaches.

Defensive Player of the Year:

SS/LB Timothy Simons; Senior Carlson

Friday Night Victors on Simons: Simons comes from the same mold as Ruddy. He is a tough hard-nosed kid who led a Marauder team to another great season. It’s hard to believe that football is probably his second-best sport behind wrestling.

  1. Airport vs Carlson is a nice week 1 matchup. Gotta give the early edge to Airport considering they return almost every starter on both sides and Carlson is replacing a lot of starters. Other intriguing week 1 games from the FNV teams: Dundee vs Flat Rock, Grosse Ile vs Ida, Huron vs Livonia Churchill and Bedford vs Canton. August can’t get here soon enough.
