Ida 2017 Preview and Prediction

2016 once again saw Ida make a long playoff run as they did in 2015. The Bluestreaks made it to the Regional Final losing to Algonac 38-22. Ida has qualified for the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 seasons and are coached by first year Head Coach, Jeff Potter.

Ida returns 3 starters on offense and 2 on defense. Offensively the Bluestreaks will be lead by their offensive line. Mike Clark, Jacob Campbell and Matt Zlonkevicz are the leaders up front. Carrying the ball out of the Full House T will be Bryce Holmes and Jake Weilnau. Clay Sampson and Zach Johnston are battling it out for the QB spot.

Defensively Ida will be lead by the line backing crew of Seth Barnier, Sam Brettschneider and Johnston.

Coaches’ Outlook: “We had a large senior class graduate last year, so we will be young with a group of kids that have to prove themselves. I expect our seniors to lead them and put their own stamp on the program. I anticipate Hudson, Onsted and Dundee as the top teams in the LCAA. The league will be competitive from top to bottom”.

The Bluestreaks lost quite a bit from last year’s team.  Gone are the familiar names associated with 5 playoff wins the last 2 seasons.  A new era has set in at Ida.  The T is still in place but I expect some growing pains in what appears to be a very solid LCAA.   A quick start will be important and 3-0 is certainly attainable.  This would help tremendously as the latter half of the schedule becomes much tougher.

Gary’s Pick: LCAA 2-5 Overall 4-5

Chris’s Pick: LCAA 3-4 Overall 4-5
