Jefferson 2016 Preview

Bruce Pickens enters his fourth season as the coach of Jefferson. Last season the Bears finished with a record of 3-6.

The Bears return 6 starters on offense. Senior Brandon Sovey will move from RB to QB. Nick Humphrey will be one of the RB while Joey Flaherty and Steven Hintz will anchor the offensive line.  Speedster Zach Hill will get some time at RB. The senior was the Huron League 100/200 meter champion in the spring.

Jefferson returns 5 starters on defense. The linebacking corp is led by Cam Smith. The defensive line will be led by 5-11 245 lb DT Thomas Eads while the defensive backfield will be led by Mitchell Payment.

The Bears will be a team that nobody should look past. They have steadily improved every year under Pickens and this year may be no different. Jefferson will open the season against Ida who is looking to make another long playoff run this season. Prediction: 2-5 League, 3-6 Overall

  1. I can see Jefferson going 4-5 or 5-4 if they can surprise one of the top teams!!! I look for Humphrey to have a huge year!! Also watch out for Payment on D. Played allot as a sophomore last year and is a tough young man. Good luck Friday !!

  3. 4-3 in the league, 5-4 overall.
Good possibility of wins against GI, Airport, Flat Rock and SMCC. Should beat Owosso out of the league. Riverview, Milan and Huron are pretty stout.
Very tall order against Ida. Last years JV was solid, those guys plus the returning starters should make for a pretty good season.

    GO BEARS !!
