Huron @ Milan

MIlan (3-1) is coming off of a 50-15 win over Jefferson while Huron (2-2) is coming off of a home loss to SMCC 27-7. Huron won last season’s game 28-14, but Milan leads the all-time series 19-2.

Milan has showed both their offensive and defensive fire power lately. The offense is led by juniors Demetrius Barnes and Trace Lineman. The two have combined for 844 yards and 8 TD’s on the ground through four games. The defense is giving up just 12 points per game and is led by seniors Cortez Gray and Quintell Moore.

Huron has dropped two straight and desperately needs a win. The Chiefs are led by Matt Hartwick who has run and thrown for over 800 yards and has accounted for 8 TD’s. Defensively the Chiefs have struggled lately. The defense is led by junior LB Nik Becker.

This is a make or break game for Huron. They are pretty much eliminated from the league title chase, but still have a shot at the playoffs. Milan can afford a slip up here and still win at least a share of a league title by winning out. This could be a great game, but it depends which Huron team decides to show up. Pick: Milan 27 Huron 17

  • We are going to kill Huron. Huron had big mean lineman last year now they don't. They won't be able to stop our 3 headed monster. Milan 48- Huron 7

    • We really should NOT use words like kill and destroy. After all it is only a game. I hope a child posted this and not a parent.

  • I don't think you can win 50-15 and play *very* poorly, but it is nice to run away with a game and still have things you can improve upon. If I'm not mistaken, Jefferson scored both touchdowns and their 2-point conversion through the air on that corner pattern. I thought the Bears would hammer Milan with that throughout the game, but it was either shut down or not called the rest of the way.

I agree with #9 Dad. Milan has had occasional trouble defending the pass, but aside from a missed tackle resulting in a long catch-and-run touchdown in Marshall, it hasn't hurt them much. I expect Huron to have a balanced attack overall but to provide the biggest test for the Big Reds' passing D.

  • Smcc is watching film right now. Looking at stats, evaluating runs vs passes, runners routes, receivers routes, etc. The scouts have Ipads with apps on them that keep track of all this. Basketball too.

    Trust Me.

  • Milan is not taking Huron lightly. They know how good they are and are not over looking this team. Huron overlooked a decent team and lost to a really good team. That happens to many during the course of the year. Milan played very poorly last week and it showed. They have something to prove and this is the next step in beating a good Huron squad.

    • I wondered earlier this week which one would be picked. All I could guess is Milan-Huron has an overall record of 5-3, while SMCC-GI has an overall record of 6-2. Both should be good games, but I think FR-Airport will be the closest game.

  • Good points #9 Dad. I think it's like you said, the key match-up will be Huron's passing vs. Milan's passing defense. I also don't see Huron stopping Milan's offense. If Huron can't find their passing game, it's going to be a LONG game for them.

  • This is a scary match up for me. Huron will not be able to just run the ball. They will have to use the pass to set up the run. If Milan shuts down the pass, they win with out a doubt. I don't think Huron can stop Milan on offense so they will have to match them score for score. Turn overs will be huge in this game. I do think Milan wins, but like I said before this match up is bad for Milan. Going to be close till the 4th quarter. Good luck to both teams.
