Jefferson @ Milan

Jefferson (1-2) is coming off of a hard fought 7-0 loss to Airport while Milan (2-1) is coming off of a 27-7 victory over Riverview. The Big Reds won last season’s game 34-0 and lead the all-time series 12-8-1.

Jefferson’s defense has played very well the last six quarters, but the offense needs to pick things up this week if they expect to be in this game.

Milan looked like the team that some picked to win the league last week. The offense is diverse and the defense is physical and fast.

Milan boast a ton of seniors and experienced players. Team that with an excellent young football coach in Jesse Hoskins and you can see why I picked them where I did. Pick: Milan 28 Jefferson 6

  • Well, as someone said somewhere else on this blog. Milan mainly has 3 run plays. motion right, motion left and middle. Ur boy is fast, but if the defense rotates and overloads the side your boy is headed for, I'm sure we could contain him some.

I am confident this will happen. Still worried about our offense though.

    Milan 28- Jefferson 20

  • Passing was tough in the pouring rain, but constantly banging the middle got the Bears nowhere. Got to pitch to the backs and run the ends. Got to happen at full speed too, no hesitation. Sending the not fast QB around the ends did nothing. Watch Milans offense, they send a guy in motion to the right and to the left most of the game. As soon as the defense stops it a few times, the QB keeps it and runs up the middle. Not rocket science, but enough to keep a defense off balance.

Not being predictable and keeping the defense off balance is key. Not just calling a bunch of random plays. Pass on 1st down once in awhile.. I believe every first down since 1979 has been a run. LOL.

Just saying. I'm not a football coach, but I do take note of what our opponents do.

    GOOD LUCK TONITE !!
    GO BEARS !!

  • by the looks of the weather forecast it is going to be just as sloppy as last week. in conditions like that it will be critical to hold on to the ball. Always tough to say if conditions help one to vs another i thought that would help us last week, but we couldn't capitalize on short fields we had. WE have to do that this week or it could be a long day. We will see prob not a time to try to open up the offense though. signed the idiot !!

  • While I prefer talking about what I've seen rather than what I think I'll see, I don't mind weighing in here. The comments on here so far are solid; obviously Milan's a huge favorite. When Milan's humming on offense, they are tough to stop. Always capable of the big play, last week showed that the Big Reds could also cash in on long sustained drives, and the emerging passing game should give pause to all defenses who are counting on just stuffing Milan's run game. I don't know much about the Bears this season other than they have split the two close games they have played in (Ida looks to be dominant this season, so I cut Jefferson some slack there), and I figure they would do what they can on both sides of the ball to shorten the game , keep the clock moving, control the ball, and try to find a way to pull out another road win. Perhaps the only thing about an early season loss is that it provides endless fuel for coaches to keep their teams motivated. This one could get ugly, but I don't expect Jefferson to lie down. Milan will have to earn the victory.

  • Jefferson will need to pull out all the stops on offense. No sweeps around the end by the QB please. This is a waste of a play. Call plays to use your QB's strengths, like maybe passing ??. Put some thought into the play calling, not just spur of the moment. Maybe script out the first 10 plays.

I know these kids personally, use them properly, they will give you a hell of a game.

With that being said, if defense plays like last week, it could be a close game. Hopefully you worked the defense on the RB cutting it back. Nobody stayed home.
    Lindemann will tear that up.

    Milan 28, Jefferson 20.

    • Milan 28 Jefferson 20 ?
I am thinking more like 35-7.
Milan played great smash mouth football last week against RV. Held them to on score. Milan has too much speed and they really are catching fire. I wish Jefferson luck and I hope it is a competitive game.

  • If Milan put up 27 on a very tough RV D, you are being nice saying they'll only put up 28 this week Chris. Milan is playing with a chip on their shoulder after blowing the game against Marshall. This score could be closer to the Flat Rock game. Milan is angry and has something to prove. I wouldn't want to be on the opposite side of that.
