New Boston Huron 2018 Preview and Prediction

The Huron Chiefs finished 2017 with a 5-5 record and the school’s 4th consecutive playoff appearance. The Chief’s have a new head coach for the 4th season in a row as Huron assistant coach Chad Smith takes over the head coaching duties.

Huron returns just 4 starters on offense from a team that averaged 21 ppg last season. Senior Brent Wright and Sophomore Austin Myers will both get opportunities at QB this season. Wright will be the teams main receiver this year when not playing QB. Senior Jeremy Williams  will get a bulk of the carries behind a line that includes Bruce Bennett and Brad Smith.

On defense the Chiefs return 5 starters. Wright will hold down a safety position while junior Troy Blosser and sophomore Tycen Stevens will anchor a solid LB corp. Look for Tyler Short and Jack Nickell to contribute for a defensive unit that will be the strength of the team.

Huron boast a roster of 36 kids , but the Chief’s are a young team with a first year varsity head coach in a league that appears to be very good from top to bottom. However, Huron has some talent and the first 4 games are manageable It will be very important for the Chiefs to get off to a good start.

Chris’s Prediction: 3-6
Frank’s Prediction: 3-6
Gary’s Pick: 3-6
