My Thoughts Not Yours 10/3/21

Airport: Offense fills the seats, defense wins championships.

Bedford: Huge fourth-quarter drive beats Monroe, big game at home Friday against Saline.

Carlson: Marauder’s Cody Britt quietly making a case for FNV Player of the Year.

Dundee: I’m not sure if I have been giving Dundee enough respect. I guess we will see how much that should be on Friday against Clinton.

Erie Mason: Eagles fall hard to the toughest opponent any TCC team will face this season. Let’s see if it helps them the next 3 weeks.

Flat Rock: The game was closer than the final score indicated. Rams need to find a way to score some points.

Grosse Ile: I wonder how many receivers in the state are averaging 8 receptions a game, like Red Devil, Tyler Swick.

Huron: The Chiefs have flipped the script on the season, but need at least two more victories to see the postseason.

Ida: The Blue Streaks are currently sitting 7th in the Division 6 Playoff standing with 3 very winnable games coming up.

Jefferson: Tough road to hoe the next 2 weeks.

Milan: The Big Reds need to regroup and focus on the next 3 games, then the playoffs.

Monroe: At 3-3 Monroe is currently on the outside looking in for a (#33) playoff spot. The Trojans must win at least two more games to even have a shot.

Riverview: The Pirates are one of only two undefeated teams left in Division 3.

SMCC: The Falcons are one of five Catholic High Schools in the top 10 in playoff points in Division 7.

Summerfield: Bulldogs are most likely going to be a high seed in the Division 8 playoff picture.

Whiteford: Bobcats will host Division 1 Kalamazoo Loy Norrix in Week 7. The Knights are 0-6, but have lost some very close games.

  • Week 6 so far:
Airport- defense is a problem, middle of the pack in HL.
Flat Rock- should get their 3rd and final win at GI. Hard to run the spread with 3rd string QB.
SMCC- was not overly impressed with the FR game. 2nd place in the HL and another trip to the playoffs still not bad.
Riverview- Did what everyone said they would back in August. D3 playoffs will be tough.
GI- cellar team this year in the HL.
Jefferson- not in the cellar this year, putting up some points but not enough to win.
Milan - 3rd place finish in the league, playoff bound. Always competitive.
Carlson- quietly having a good season in a weak DRL. D3 playoffs will be tough for you too.
Dundee- surprise team in the region so far, can make a legit statement with a win over Clinton.
Summerfield- Aggies always play tough football. Still having a good season.
Whiteford- keeps rolling in the TCC.
Mason - got a little taste of big boy football this week. May be a good thing down the road. Still like to see you in the LCAA.
Huron - Big test this week, could be a very good game.
Ida- nice win, good team, should make the playoffs.
Monroe- just disappointed with entire season.
Gotta win at least 2 games to get in the back door for playoffs.

  • Milan just regained their big 6’6 receiver who was out with an injury. Dessellier had 120 yards on 10 catches. I think this is a big upside for the Big Reds.

    • He had a great game. I run one of the social media accounts for Riverview and he had some real classy interactions with us over there. Genuinely seems like a great kid but that’s not surprising for a Milan athlete. Hoskins seems to consistently turn out good people as well as players

  • huron needs to get henninger in a RB also rotating with caldwell those 2 going in and out can lead huron into the deep postseason

  • Erie Mason defense struggled without Defensive End Cooper Kinsey who was out of the game with an injury.

      • I think it starts by who is actually going to make the playoffs.

Monroe, Huron, Mason, Dundee, Airport and yes, Flat Rock, are fighting for their playoff lives.
