Nice win for Milan (I'll admit that I was very worried about the outcome once the hurricane hit Milan–that was some storm!). They control their own destiny for the league title and they are playoff bound again.
That said, no one should think that SMCC is going away anytime soon. That program keeps rolling along.
Also, while I continue to be impressed by the Big Reds' coaching staff, let's see if we can field a team at each level before talking about Milan's consistent future greatness (for my fellow Milan supporter posting at 1:37 AM).
Congratulations to the BIG REDS from this Milan fan. You really play as a TEAM.

@845: they beat the number 3 team in D6 by 7 how does that give you the impression they will lose in the first round.
Riverview didn't run it up. Only questionable call was them throwing it up 42-7 on 4th and 6 on FR's 25 with their kicker. Of course they hit a play action pass to make it 49-7. It was the 1st half though so i think it's acceptable. They took out Samuels and Smith in the 2nd half. I spoke with someone close to the FR staff and they were not upset about that at all. Just feeling bad for their kids. I hope they get a win week 9 against Stockbridge.
I still don't consider Riverview that good of a team, they haven't beaten any one good! Got killed by Milan by three scores, and barely beat, IMO, a mediocre Huron team. At best, they are a slightly above average.
@6:04 post, McCarty never went down. He played another 4-5 plays with a broken collar bone. Another big loss for GI.

Do you fail to realize that "D6 School" over the last 10 years is 22-9in playoff run… If you ask me, losing by 7 just shows Milan is better, but beat a very talented football program..

Unfortunately the Huron league will never prepare Milan for the playoffs. Simply put Milan beat SMCC and honestly they was on verge of blowing them out but the boys got relaxed or lost focus. Milan shouldn't lose to SMCC as long as that staff remains there..
riverview did not run the score up they scored early then took there starters out if they keep josh in the score would have hit the hundreds no doubt. Flat Rock is a terrible team with no athletic ability and they need coaches that know what there doing, you don't run a spread with that kind of team there's not even close to being a good football team. I would be embarrassed to be apart of that program, as coaches and players.
If anyone should be embarrassed it should be YOU… You sound like an idiot!

Milan has now got the respect from me. After seeing CC and Milan both play, you knew it was going to be a close game. Hats off to you Milan, good job out there. and best of luck to you in the playoffs this year.

I am sorry I made an assumption about the Riverview game.You know what they say about assumptions, right? That just happened to me. I assumed since it was their homecoming game they ran the score up on purpose. Congrats to Riverview on their win, I was just really frustrated with Flat Rock.

11:04- the starters were out after about 5 minutes of the second quarter the juniors and the seniors that don't start all got a shot. Watch the game before you say riverview ran up the score.
yeah so riverview had i think 8 different players score, their starting RB's only had 3 TD's combined.
in the first quarter they had some starters pulled.. by the 2nd half and mid second quarter all starters were out

if you were at the riverview game you would have seen the starters out at the start of 2nd qt. Is it poor sportsmenship tp let the backups try to score when they get their chance or should they just take a knee? This is the problem i have with blogs, people assume they know what is happening in games but dont have a clue. Interceptions for touchdowns is not running up the score….fumble recoveries in the end zone for touchdowns is not running up the score. make sure you know what your talking about before running your mouth.
By my count, there were at least 9 GI players who were not available tonight including Mitroka, McCarty, Stewart, and Gilliam. Going to win 0 games like that. QB and best offensive and defensive weapon, along with both DTs. Really showed in tun game tonight with Airport shredding GI D.
Congrats to Milan, no sour grapes here, they were the better team. Good luck to you the rest of the year. It looks as if they are going to have good teams for seasons to come. Don't let the few ignorant CC fans give us all a bad name with the chatter, I for one look forward to some good battles for years to come. Congrats again.

Riverview was not running up the score they were running up the middle the whole second half and josh smith and Marcus only had 1 touchdown each how is that running up the score
What a year for GI. Tough for those kids and fans and I hate to see all these kids like McCarty end their careers like that.
Running the score up 71-7. To me, that is poor sportsmanship. Put your Juniors/Sophomores in when it you are up by 40 or more. I bet they are so proud they beat Flat Rock 71-7.

Airport played its best game of the season. The 1st string D pitched a shutout and the Oline opened holes all night for Bernard, McGrath and company. Looking forward to Airport-Huron next week, should be a good one. Milan fans been asking for respect, no one can deny you know. Nice win. EM
Milan shocking everyone again with a perfect record 6 games in. Congrats Big Reds!!
I went to the Milan/SMCC game tonight. Milan jumped on them early but SMCC hung around. It poured rain much of the 4th quarter. Falcons had a chance late in 4th but turned it over on downs at the Milan 39 with 52 seconds to go. Milan was the better team.
My weekend complete… SMCC loses!
