These are the All League Players that Friday Night Victors considers the best of the best. All players from each of the 8 teams are considered. Players are only picked one side of the ball or the other. This year was extremely tough, because there were so many good players. We don’t do 2nd team or honorable mention.

  1. Suggestion for next year, maybe do a big Man of the year just to give the lineman some glory. As a lineman in the Huron League with most teams running the T and being run heavy, I feel they should get more credit.

  2. Congrats to all players that earned awards this year.

On a side note, can somebody please get the school of choice and recruiting under control around here. Been at Total sports in Monroe a lot lately. The recruiting is out of control. Coaches hang out there and talk to kids. Our local private school was the worst, approaching many young girls about their volleyball future.

We all want to succeed, right, but somebody draw the line already. If your a great athlete you will be noticed and move to the next level no matter where you go to High School. Reality checks are needed. Schools are recruiting for their own cause, not to help your child's future. I have been through the process.

  3. Love the blog…had glanced at it a few times before this season, but followed closely since this season began. You have gained an avid reader from now on. Already can't wait for next year…

    Go BUCS!

  4. In all fairness to the guys. They were right more than anyone else. The average fan picks their own team virtually every time. These guys pretty much bring an objective thought process to local football.

  5. Hey, sometimes you guys were spot on, sometimes I think you guys were not even close , but you guys put a lot into this and you give a neat forum for people to express their ideas and opinions.
It’s fun to read and fun to respond.
Thanks for putting in the time and effort!
Have great holiday and I hope you do it again next year!

  6. Thanks for the props, Gary really helped take the blog to the next level. His knowledge is really second to none. He was a welcome addition I’m hoping he wants to continue next year.

  7. EVERYONE IS TELLING THE ALL STARS AND THE HURON LEAGUE WHAT A GREAT YEAR THEY HAD AND YOUR ALL STAR PICKS WERE RIGHT ON. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR WHAT A GREAT YEAR YOU GUYS HAD, I KNOW IT WAS A LOT OF WORK, DEDICATION AND TIME TO PUT OUT SUCH AN EXCEPTIONAL BLOG. YOU GUYS HAD A GREAT YEAR AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU BACK NEXT YEAR.

  8. Nice job on the selections and on the blog. I really enjoyed your insight as well as the fan interaction, although some people are way over the top. Keep up the good work guys.

  9. Ok I had seen this on twitter from Woodhaven, FR, View, and Kennedy players and I wondered what your opinion is. In a Huron League vs. Downriver League Allstar game who do you believe would win?

  10. How about all league coach’s!
Riverview Coach: 1st team great coaching job.
SMCC Coach: 2nd team great win against a state champ and a playoff win.
Flat Rock Coach: Honorable Mention making the playoffs and some nice wins.
Milan Coach: had 3 of the best players in the league but short on supporting cast.
Huron Coach: played kids out of position all year.
GI Coach: Got the most out of what they had very young team.
Airport Coach: need to play better defense.
Jefferson Coach: kept the team playing hard all year.

  11. Great job guys. Appreciate the efforts you both put in to bring attention to the area football programs. Couple comments from the cheap seats:

    1. Why are your player of years not listed on your All Huron League First Teams.

    2. I think its disappointing that the player of the year was an offensive player. Nothing
against Cam, he is a very solid player that had a great year, but if you were building a
team from scratch with Huron League players, you can't tell me that you would not start with
the Furtney kid from Milan. He was a matchup nightmare for everyone.

    3. Curious how many kids Whiteford has returning from this years team?

    4. Does Michigan need to recruit more 2 & 3 star players that play with a chip on their
shoulders? Don't see much "coaching" happening at Michigan as much as talent
management…thus, an NFL approach. If you are a Michigan fan, you have to be disappointed.
