Huron League Player of the Year

Because the blog started with the Huron League and we cover all eight Huron League teams we will be picking our All League Teams and Players of the Year again.

We will pick an Offensive Player of the Year, a Defensive Player of the Year and an Overall Player of the Year. We will then pick 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players a kicker and a punter for our All-League teams. Our Players of the Year will not be included in these All League teams.

Cam Rogers
of Riverview has been named the Huron League Player of the Year. This award epitomizes who we feel is the best overall football player in the Huron League while meaning the most to his team.

The 6-0, 210 lb senior RB/LB/SS ran for 1,310 yards and 18 TD’s while recording 74 tackles and an interception from his multiple defensive positions. Rogers led the Pirates to their first league championship since 2004.

Rogers broke his collar bone in the district final against Carlson, but remained the emotional leader of the Bucs who eventually lost in the state semi-finals to Farmington Hills Harrison.

Rogers also plays baseball and has a 3.3 GPA.

  1. Great selection. This kid was always a concern when he was on the field on either side of the ball. I've seen him just run over people or dragging tacklers along the way. The T offense was built for his style of running. His shoes will be tough to fill at the View.

CONGRATS CAM!!! GREAT YEAR…TRUE BEAST ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL…VERY VERY DESERVING… GREAT PICK GUYS…

  3. Well deserving. The semi final game would of been very different with that kid playing. A very special football player.

  4. Congratulations Cam, this was the first year I got to see you play and it was a lot of fun. There will be more awards in your future with the way you play the game! Keep up the hard work..

  5. Great job Cam, it was awesome watching you play. Every play could be a touchdown you truly are one of the most dominant players in Michigan on both sides of the ball. Not to mention he’s a great kid with a humble spirit.

  6. Wow! Your opinion means So much to me. I know that you don’t take placing these titles lightly. I feel like the two of you know the Huron League inside and out. Just the thought of you choosing him over so many high caliber players is just amazing! Thank you! Thank you! You have made his awesome senior year even better, and his mom’s too!

  7. Well deserved Cam! It was a pleasure watching one of the most dominant players in SE Michigan do his thing. Very proud Pirate fan.
