Week 8 Player of the Week Nominations

By Frank Vajcner

Each week, I will go through the box scores of all of our teams and pick four players whom I will turn to you, the people, to determine our HH Designs Player of the Week.

There are a lot of choices in a given week, so narrowing them down to four is a challenge in itself. If you have anyone in particular to nominate, hit me up on Twitter. That will actually help me out, as my Friday nights are busy with officiating.

You can then vote in our Twitter poll to determine the final outcome. @FNVictors

Without further ado…

Brandon Thompson, RB, Summerfield: Thompson essentially did everything for Summerfield in a 38-6 rout of Pioneer North Central. He broke his own school record for rushing yards, as he rushed for 385 yards and all six Bulldog touchdowns on 22 carries.

Graham Junge, QB, Flat Rock: Junge turned in a big-time performance in a big rivalry game, as he went 26-for-35 for 307 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams outlasted New Boston Huron 29-28 to claim The Oar Trophy for the first time since 2017.

Omari Carter, RB, Carlson: Carter put the Marauders on his back, as he carried the ball 24 times for 301 yards and a score in Carlson’s 30-14 win over White Lake Lakeland. Carter also had a 20-yard reception in the game.

Owen Yount, RB/WR/KR, Monroe: Yount made an impact multiple ways for the Trojans in a 49-14 win over Ann Arbor Pioneer. He totaled 156 yards from scrimmage (84 rushing, 72 receiving) and three total touchdowns, and also had an 80-yard kickoff return for a score.

Honorable Mention: Jack Mills, RB, Airport; Hunter DeBarr, RB, Whiteford; Jake Iott, RB, Whiteford, Brandon Scheffler, WR, Carlson; Ronny Johnson, RB, Milan; Anthony Bowman, RB, Riverview; Gavin Moczydlowsky, QB, Huron; Cooper Nye, QB, Airport; Trey Brueggeman, RB/LB, Bedford; Drew Harris, RB, SMCC; Luke Levicki, RB, Ida; Braiden Whitaker, WR/KR, Dundee; SMCC Defense

  1. Come on Gary and chris

The fact jack mills is only honorable mention is a joke…some guys across this coverage had good games obviously but leaving jack out is in my mind a fireable offense

    1. Come on Gary Chris comment:

Sorry. There is more to the vote than just yardage

Gary Frank Chris did a great job with the picks.

      Everybody in the Huron League

    1. Great point Stan
Not taking anything Away from the O Line they did a great. But it was a lot of movement by Junge and on the money passing that got the win.
      Junge got my vote.
      Huron Fan.

  2. Jack Mills Fanboy

How in the heck did Jack Mills not make this?!? 293 all purpose yards, and all 5 of his teams touchdowns isn’t a good enough performance?? The other kids had great games don’t get me wrong but Jack mills is the real deal and deserved this!! Keep an eye out for him in the playoffs this year👀👀👀

      1. Great cop out answer Gary, how about a reason? How can you possible justify that kid not being in the voting? He almost doubled up the kid from Monroes output, is it a participation trophy? Do we feel bad for Monroe and want to give them some love? I appreciate what y’all do but not having Jack Mills in the voting is absolutely terrible and y’all should be ashamed.

        1. He carried the ball 22 times for 163yards vs 8 times for 84 yards. 6 rec for 130 vs 3 rec for 72. Very comparable with the Monroe player getting a 80 yard Kick return TD to give him 4 TD’s to his 3 while not playing most of the 4th quarter. Both players had great games but to say that they feel sorry for Monroe just makes you sound stupid.

        2. Y’all should be ashamed? Is that what you just wrote?

          Y’all should be ashamed?

          Y’all should be ashamed?

          I don’t think I have any response to that. Wait… I do…..
