FNV 2022 Overall Player of the Year

Each year Friday Night Victors chooses a Player of the Year for offense and defense along with an overall Player of the Year. We also have our All Blog teams. Those will all be coming out this week. As always, let’s celebrate those chosen and considered for all of the 2022 awards.

Whiteford’s Shea Ruddy has been chosen as the Friday Night Victors Overall Player of the Year for the 2022 season. The senior QB led his team to an undefeated record of 14-0 and the Division 8 State title. The Bobcats averaged over 47 ppg this season.

On the season, Ruddy accounted for 38 TD’s through the air and on the ground. He rushed for 789 yards while averaging 8.4 yards per carry. Through the air he passed for 1,241 yards. On defense, the defensive back recorded 76 tackles including 3 TFL’s and a sack. He also had 18 pass break ups and an interception.

For his career he finished with a 37-9 record as a starting QB while passing for nearly 4,500 yards and rushing for 2,327 yards. He scored 36 TD’s on the ground while throwing for another 52.

Thoughts From FNV: While Ruddy’s stats don’t necessarily jump off the board, all one has to do is watch the State Championship game to see his impact on the Bobcats. He literally willed his team to victory. It is worth noting that while others were considered, Ruddy was a unanimous choice by the FNV staff.

First time I think I’m disagreeing w you guys and I got to go to bat for Jake.
And I’m not trying to take away from Shea (you know I’m not about that), I just believe Shank’s season was that special.

      1. Shank had a GREAT season. He is a heck of a ballplayer. At the end, Ruddy helped his team win a state title. Congratulations to all of the kids this blog recognizes. They cover many many good programs.

  2. Great Choice! Shea is a great young man and great player! Jake Iott absolutely worth consideration and likely will be considered again next year! Love what you guys do for HS Football keep at it!
