  1. Wow… why is everyone picking on ol Rusty. Rusty is probabally the smartest offensive lineman Airport has ever put through the system and I guarantee he has more heart than most, he just thinks and lets his ego and brain power get to him now and then. Leave Rusty alone, this is a Huron League forum.

The Jets had better be ready to play, no early lack luster performance like they had with Flushing will work with Chelsea. Chelsea is a winnable game, they have not beat anyone tough this year and lost to AA Pioneer and Adrian, the only 2 good teams on their schedule. Expect Airports Defense to key on Nick Hill as that’s all they have.

    Luv ya Rusty…. justafan

  2. It sure was nice to skip over Rustayo predictable nonsense comments. A proven hypocrate/hate monger has no place here……BUT at least he's consistent.

    SITOFN

  3. I agree about the property tax. I choose to send my children to a private school. I agree with you Huronleaguefootball. It's a choice and we shouldn't get special rights because of it.

Rustayo, I agree with you also when you say that smcc deserves their own field. I think they do. In the future I hope they find a way for them to have their own field.

  4. I really still would love to see SMCC get their own field, I do think they deserve one, or even if they just improved Navarre it would be nice. I also would love to see Airport make some improvements and add more seating. But, the important things are that they get to host home games in the playoffs, and really the money should be used for better schooling.

Do you people really have to question how would Riverview or GI do against Adrian and Chelsea. Riverview the future is good but you're done with football, you went 3-6. And I think I hate GI more than SMCC, because at least SMCC has earned the right to talk. (If you can make an Airport grad hate someone more than SMCC, it's bad, and GI parents, you have earned that honor) The other schools not mentioned have done proper so far and move on to basketball season.

And did anyone see how loaded Division 3 is? There are 2 9-0 top 5 teams in the state in a same district, the weakest one honestly is the Airport district, which is also a tough good district. Carlson got the luckiest break getting in D-2 with all Downriver teams. I don't think they'd have a chance in D-3

  5. No Chris, I do not feel that I, or anyone that sends there kids to private schools should be refunded a dime.

Just making a point, that we still put money into the public school system.

  6. Actually, several years ago, there was a proposal on the Michigan ballot for a small tax credit to property owners that chose to send their kids to private schools so it's not that crazy of an idea-it made it to the ballot but didn't pass, not suprisingly.

Not enough visitor bleachers at Huron or Airport either. Spent many games either on the fence 2-3 people deep or in the home team stands.

  7. Is that how it works? Do you really think your property taxes should be returned because you "choose" to send your son to a private institution? I hope not.

Many people "choose" to send their kids to private institutions including me right now. We can't expect special rights because of a "choice" we make.

Let the people chirp about your field all they want. The field is fine, it is just a little tough to watch the game this season for a visiting team.

Playing at Monroe High on Saturday Nights would be a great alternative. You could also play there on Friday's when Monroe is away.

  8. Lets see, I've been sending my son to Catholic School for 13 yrs. now.

But I still have to pay money to the Public School system in the form of Property Tax.

Get that money returned to me, and all the parents like me, and we will make a donation to make repairs at Navarre Field!!

  9. Why isn't the bashing against Monroe Public, after all they are the owners of Navarre, the ones who tore down the home side bleachers with no plan to replace them. The bleechers on what is now the visitors side came from Munson park. Very poor planning on Monroe Public's part and from what they charge for rental of Navarre can more than adequate replace the bleechers and press box and should of. The handicapped fans have no access to either set of bleechers, shame on Monroe Public Schools!!

  10. Anonymous. I really don't think the same people that say smcc recruits are the same people saying they have no facilites. I agree with you 100% that you need to cheer for your team no matter where they play.

I agree with the other comment as well. That's their home and they have been playing their for a while now. It's tradition for them. Why change it now?

ohh about- let us prey- there is nothing classy about it. it's just a saying. falcons are birds of prey get it?

  11. Based on how Riverview has played in the last couple of games, how do you think they would stand against a playoff team such as Adrian or Chelsea?

  12. I agree it would be very nice if SMCC would rent MHS football field, with no game conflicts as the season has ended. Parking and everything would be so much better. But, it goes against tradition and all. That's prolly why they wouldn't do it.

  13. It's all just sour grapes…. It's not about the field.. it's about the product on the field. You people contradict yourself at every turn. You say SMCC recruits but then turn around and say that they have zero facilities of their own and the ones they do rent suck. Navarre Field plays right into the falcon's hands… dim, dingy lights make it very hard to see the ball against those Falcon green uniforms…. I actually love Navarre field and am happy to be able to watch my hometown team wherever they play. Good luck to Airport, Milan and SMCC in the playoffs.

  14. so since cc keeps winning, giving you little negative material to comment on their football abilities (which is what the blog is about) you smcc haters resort to slamming their home field. Pretty desperate and sad for you. FYI, Dearborn Divine Child plays at the public school field as does Jackson Lumen Christi and I'm sure there are more examples of the same…see a pattern here? Playing at that field neither helps nor hinders CC or their opponents. Even on Friday's messy evening, the public school fields were in bad condition-see any article about Friday's games for reference. Ever heard of the Timberwolves??they play there too and it's not "their" field either. And here's an interesting fact for you, anonymous 10/26 658 am, anyone who lives in your school district, like me, OWNS and pays for MAINTENANCE on what you think is your home field. Ever heard of property taxes? Maybe you can google it…

  15. I think what most people are getting at is that since they tore the bleachers down there is no place to sit. The field is fine.

Many Catholic schools don't have their own field so they rent one. Wasn't the Divine Child game played at Crestwood? Why not rent Monroe High's field?

  16. Anonymous at 6:58 am- for starters there is no room on the campus of smcc to build a football field! so if they wanted to try and build a field somewhere it would be off campus anyway– next, where would they build it??? and building a field costs money which we all know if tough nowadays. it's funny that the field was never brought up before when they had a home game in the playoffs, but it is now. that is the field they play on so get over it!!!!!!!

anonymous if you think they need their own field why don't you help them come up with the money to pay for it then and find a place for them to build it!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL HL TEAMS IN THE PLAYOFFS! GO GET 'EM!!!

  17. The field doesn't make the team, but you probably already had a taste of that…8-1 and Im guessing your not from Detroit Crocket…so what was that about the field……LET US PREY.

  18. Jealous? Poke in pin in your head. It's all swollen, and you don't even play. And no, I'm not from Airport. Try again pal.

  19. How about playing on a field that YOUR school owns and maintains? Making the visiting team defensive coach sit in a "cherry picker" is just outright nuts. It makes YOU look like trash. Have you EVER seen another school, anywhere make a visiting coach do that? How do you think the coaches from Harper Woods are going to feel after they travel all the way down to Monroe, and have to coach from a picker? Your one sorry bunch of hosts.

I would be embarrassed if my team had to host a State playoff game at Navarre Field. That place is a dump! No choice in that either?

    October 25, 2009 10:23 PM

Sounds like someone is a little jelous that smcc went undefeated in the league. Let me guess your from airport?

AND smcc knows that navarre isnt the greatest field but oh well! Yes that is all they have. So what. both teams play on the same field

  21. I would be embarrassed if my team had to host a State playoff game at Navarre Field. That place is a dump! No choice in that either?

  22. Blissfield, Manchester ,Clinton ,Schoolcraft and Constantine are all very good teams.. CC has a very tough road… certaiinly cant look past Harper Woods though. GO GET EM!

    LET US PREY!

  23. Well from what I have found Hrper Woods has no really played anyone. Ecorse beat Ann Arbor Gabrial Richard and really no one else and Blisfield lost twice once to a tough Hudson team. So all and all Smcc may not have that easy of a road. And it is the playff anything can happen.

  24. Justafan, I want to cahllenge you to a duel. Have you ever played football? Did you play football for 10 years? Are you ever going to say your name instead of hiding behind a lying cover. Anyone who is truly passionate about football cries after their last career game, that's why I was out there for over 2 1/2 hours. I dedicated a lot of time to football and to see all of it come to an end was devistating. However, our team still split the league, beat SMCC, played with a lot of passion, and made the 10th straight playoff appearance (Now it's at 11). I respect elders, but you are not one. You are a sissy parent who is probably upset because your kid didn't get playing time in sports and neither did you. So if you would like to call me, Rusty LeBlanc, former center of Airport High School and Team Captain out, by all means do it, just stand up and show yourself. I hope I find you when I get back to Michigan, and I hope you realize every group of seniors cried after they lost. Otherwise, they just didn't care. And if anyone challenges how right I am, prove me wrong.

  25. its all for fun, j.w., rusty know's who i am. he just likes to let his ego get the best of him. Rusty is an outstanding young man with a big heart, a bigger brain and wouldnt hurt a fly. He's an awsome offensive lineman who really plays well when he's ticked off.

  26. Anonymous i agree. SMCC should get pass their first game. Then i see them playing Blissfield. i think blissfield will beat Ecorse. I don't thinks ecorse plays anybody that good, but i could be wrong. if it it ends up a blissfield/smcc matchup it will be a tough game. the good news for smcc is that the game will be home. if they keep winning they will have 3 home playoff games because they will be home for regionals if they get that far. ONE GAME AT A TIME THOUGH!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL HURON LEAGUE TEAMS!!

  27. id love to play an airport like team once smcc gets deep in the playoffs because i know smcc would win. SMCC has one easy game (hopefully), thats it, so stop hating on them because they owned your team

  28. I sure hope Rusty knows who you are, because calling him out for sitting on the field with his team and hiding behind a screen name would gain absolutly NO respect from me, elder or not. It is apparent you know who he is.

With that being said, I remember some Milan fans saying they wanted another shot at Airport, it's within reach and I hope it happens.
Good luck to Airport and Milan, both drew tough teams as thats what the playoffs SHOULD be. Sorry CC, but wishing you luck would be an insult in my opinion, Harper Woods would probably take last if they were in our League.

    j.w.

  29. newsflash!! smcc can't pick who they play!! one game at a time here people! it's the playoffs and anything can happen. every team is 0-0!!

    smcc fan!

  30. Harper Woods is going to get rolled…. they lost to a team that lost to Divine Child by 50. Blissfield will be a tough out.

  31. Rusty…. i never once said you would be wrong, young man, respect your elders, I'm sure Redmond taught you that along with your parents. Check your ego at the door and keep this a good fun place to talk about the Huron League. You also said that Melvindale would be in the same Region but the wise MHSAA gurus moved our region to the mid state and out of the Detroit region. You never answered my questions, how long did you and the other seniors sit in the middle of the field last year after losing to a less talented Trenton team???

Chelsea is a beatable team, the beat no-one with a solid good record, or a good team for that matter, this year while losing to Ann Arbor Pioneer and Adrian. Airport will have to be ready to play a good team and take it to them early. Chelsea has a good running back in Nick Hill, probably the best they have seen all year, bigger and faster than even Jodeci Mayes of Airport.
