  1. EM…you're grasping at straws now!
Fans at Air from GI will mostly be parents and GI faithful.

If AIR were to be so fortunate to blow GI out… all the fans will still be there and "PROUD AS PUNCH" of our boys just like we were during the oh-4 years. Only this year we'll have to settle with the same record as you.

Besides, where they gonna go, Carleton hot spots?

    (that's called double zing BTW)

You AIR cats need to lighten up and get ready to give props…. I'll be looking from them, be sure to sign you name.

I'll give you yours too if you earn them.

    SITOFN

  2. Everyone has forgot special teams, air has a great kicker and very good kick off coverage, that will leave GI In poor field position..I'm saying special teams decides this game.

  3. I'll be here Friday night win or lose with my thoughts of the game. If Airport loses (which I would be suprised), I will give GI all the props. Now how many GI fans will be here after the game if you lose or get blown out? I'm guessing the number will be low. EM

  4. "Remember back in the day when CC was actually good, all the smack talking that they did."

lol, back in the day huh? They went to FF last November. I guess that would be "back in the day" to a 3 year old.

  5. no JW please take the time to enlighten me on why it doesnt matter which team played FR tougher…As an observer I believe that GI HAS a potent Offense and a solid D I believe Airport has a solid O and a solid D ….advantage GI…..an 18-12 advantage for GI and a 14-0 advantage for AP at the half are both CLOSE games and yes you can compare teams based upon COMMON opponents and NO I'm not another GI idiot (dont like them either )as I sign rams (u figure it out ) at the end of everything I post…promise u this ….if AP takes this game lightly white and company will sit the fourth quarter. Anyways, good luck to both teams, but kinda would like to see GI beat AP . Always nice when the little brother jumps up and smacks big brother in the mouth.

  6. Airport wins which means they have the right to talk. Remember back in the day when CC was actually good, all the smack talking that they did.

  7. Why are the folks from Airport so darn sensitive? Seriously? It is because from prior to 1994 the had 2 winning seasons? Why so much trash talking all the time, why so much anger toward every other program? You are good at football now, YAY, good for you! I am proud.
Now, you have learned how to win a football game, next is trying to do it with some class. The one thing worse than a sore loser is a cocky winner. Get over yourselves already. Win or lose, learn to respect your opponent. It is how the game is played.

If GI wins this week you people have a lot of pride to swallow.

  8. 11:59….even more reasons for blogosphere whining by Air faithful. Certainly not an advantage!

Poor Air, they thought they had a patsy for homecoming….Oooopps, bad call.

  9. wow!! We are all grown adults on this blog, so act like one and quit with the name calling, you look very childlike. Grow up !!! I'm from Grosse Ile

  10. Slow your roll, baby (air), slow your roll….lotsa name calling on the blog!

The insults and otherwise classless AIR blog behavior continues… as predicted and expected.

Friday will be a blast….and even better will be the AIR excuses sure to clog the blogwaves.

  11. 1999 Airport 57 Grosse Ile 14
    1998 Airport 26 Grosse Ile 25
    1990 Airport 13 Grosse Ile 0

I'll give you credit, you guys won the rest. Just check your facts and give credit where credit is due. It should be a good game Friday, I am excited. I know SITOFN is excited too, probably too excited, he better take his nitroglycerin pills.

  12. If we are gonna play that game, lets ask CC players who would win between Airport & GI, I bet every single one would look at you stupid and say Airport. EM

  13. Wasn't the GI/Flat Rock game actually close at halftime??

Anyways, how can you compare anybody by what they do against Flat Rock??? Is there 2 Grosse Ile idiots on this blog now?

  14. unless you were a airport player from the 90's. Don't think that you guys won a game that decade. Just remember what comes around goes around. It will be a great game on Friday.

  15. Sour grapes? What would J.W be sour about, If I'm not mistaken he is a former airport player. Airport players past and present do not worry about Grosse Ile.

  16. So tell me j.w. why it doesn't matter what happened in previous games?

Because 2nd stringers played, because the Green/Gold jerseys are slippery, because the playbook is partially used…..What??

Make us all as smarter so we can have intelligent conversations with people who KNOW football.

I know football and want to be sure I'm not missing anything. Sounds like some sour grapes if you ask me.

    SITOFN

  17. It DOES NOT MATTER how Aiport and GI have played the RAMS. Are you serious?

Comments like that make my head hurt, I won't even begin to explain to you why it doesn't matter. Just dont bring it up offline to anyone who remotely knows football, for it will probably be your last conversation ABOUT football with them.

    j.w.

  18. After playing both GI and airport , the edge has to be with GI . Better O and the D's are on par with one another-possible slight edge for airport but pretty comparable. ……rams

  19. " Anonymous said…
Kish is the favorite for league player of the year, after Friday it will be Jones.

    September 19, 2011 6:43 PM"

You can't be serious. Although Justin Jones does have speed and is a very talented athlete…..Kish is WAY BIGGER, FASTER AND STRONGER. I wish both teams luck in this great match up but feel that the edge will go to GI on this one.

  20. Barber most likely will mix up his play calls against GI. Look at what happened last year they stopped Mays early on so they spread the ball around and Williams had a great game rushing and receiving vs their D.

Barber should take his CC victory and follow up. Jets win 42-28.

  21. Will be a great game Friday, and am already predicting the responses coming from Carlton after the loss. Bad refs, bad lighting, dirty play, injury, etc. etc.

    To 1:59PM Poster,
Wow, at least your original. Bad lighting won't be an issue either, they have new lights in CarlEton. Besides, its not just Carleton, its, Parts of Newport, Exeter, South Rockwood, etc. I suspect, after the game, we will hear the whining coming from the shores of Trenton and Gibraltar. LOL

Will be a great game regardless. Game of the year.

  22. Ya SITOFN that Onsted win (which was a good win at the time) gets less and less impressive as the weeks go on. I expect Kish and White to make a couple plays, but they will be dropped in the backfield alot more than they are used to. EM

  23. I believe Airport has more to show of its offense. They just haven't had to show it yet because they've been blowing everyone out (other than Bedford). Barber has had no reason to show the full potential of the offense so far this season.

  24. Grosse Ilians are the kings of excuse making. Remember two years ago it was the wet field that beat them, remember last year they said it was a slow start that hurt them. Excuses Excuses Excuses, GI people wonder why they havent won a huron league title in so long. How about some accountability.

  25. Will be a great game Friday, and am already predicting the responses coming from Carlton after the loss. Bad refs, bad lighting, dirty play, injury, etc. etc.

After seeing both teams play it isn't too far fetched that GI will pull out a win. It will be great to see a great offensive team (GI is better than Airport) play a great defensive team (Airport is better than GI). We all know the D wins championships but both teams being close in talent I wouldn't bet the ranch on this one.
If I was GI I would work on the D every practice this week and if I was Airport I would work on O.

  26. Man – tough room to work. I know the difference in spelling. I was in a hurry but no excuses. Just mave a Monroe County accent.. Thanks for the fun.

  27. Will be a great game Friday, and am already predicting the responses coming from the island after the loss. Bad refs, dirty play, injury, etc. etc.

Let the boys do the talking. Its great to see new programs evolve the Huron League regardless.

  28. Hey GI and Airport….. CC is loosing…the league is down. Is there a possibility that CC is getting beat by decent teams or do I not say that? CC isnt great but there not bad either.

  29. Lets talk facts instead of smack:

    GI 4-0.
    Air 3-1.
    CC 1-3.

So after multiple attempts of Air to "bait" GI faithfull into a blog smack orgy, It must pain you to no end that GI homies don't play that.
(it's called class…..no, not 3rd hour math, it's something else you don't understand)

We'll see you Friday and one more thing……the only thing GI has to fear is the potential loss of some nostral effectiveness. (I say that at the risk of class comment above… please accept an apology in advance)

  30. Jefferson will be back. This isn't only a CC/Airport blog. Jefferson has some good years ahead. Especially when Cisco moves on.
The Jefferson/CC game is almost always a good one regardless of record. I know last year was ugly, but for the most part it has been a great rivalry and always will be.
Many kids from the Jefferson district go to CC and that will always bring the best out of them.

  31. I love the bickering, proof that the Airport SMCC rivalry is the most heated and intense in the huron league. Jefferson people, knock it off.

  32. Airport-CC let's stop the bickering. Airport is the better team this year & CC has the more storied program, we get it. EM

  33. In 2005 Airport beat Carlson, and then Trenton in the playoffs before losing to Farmington Hills Harrison.

Yup CC went to the Dome that year, and yup they beat us, Im aware.

    jw

  34. hey 8:44 poster, how about you tell me when the last time any huron league team won more than one playoff game in season? or heck even made the playoffs with the 6 win guarantee. yeah thats what i thought. so how about you stop saying that the team cant finish after putting up the best battles that either of the two teams they played had faced. cc got the unlucky draw of playing not only spread teams, but spread teams with the best quarterbacks in the state. id love to see how another HL team would have stood up to either of them

  35. A couple of points:

Nobody ever said SMCC would beat Monroe this season. The suggestions were that they would have beaten them the past few seasons.

As for Thurston. They would not have beaten SMCC. Thurston wasn't a good matchup for Airport and SMCC wouldn't have been a good one for Thurston.

SMCC's biggest problem this season is that they have absolutely no team speed especially at the back position for the first time in forever.

  36. lol u people are hilarious you all know gi is the team to beat and you cant deny it no matter what your fingers want to type. milan threw the ball for that many yards simply because of their receiver #12. hes honestly very talented and had an int. im a former gi player.. and i watched the whole game. it was simply a great game not gis defense letting up all those points at all. #swag

  37. Remember week 1 when everybody said cc's loss to plymouth wasnt bad and that they would recover and win the league. Remember how people thought they could beat Monroe this year.

  38. Airport is a D3 team. Surely they can win ONE playoff game. When is the last time you played OLSM and EGR? Answer: NEVER. You played Dewitt a whopping one time. I hope the players dont make excuses like I see in this blog.

  39. 7:22 comment-Good point. Airport should enjoy the win against CC. But they should get over it quickly because they will need to be totally focused against GI. They could very easily lay an egg against GI. Still have to play Huron too.

Division 3 is way stronger than Division 6. There are some major powerhouse programs in D3 that Airport will never contend with. Put CC in D3 in any one of there past playoff seasons and they might have won 1st game. Redford Thurston would have handled CC easily last year as well.

  40. Dissing CC because they lost at ford field when your team couldn't win a single playoff game and lost to CC 7 out of last 9 years??

You make yourself and the school u represent look silly with comments like that.

Enjoy your win!! You deserve it and will probably win the Huron league. If the players are more focused on the cc victory then the upcoming league games, that would not be a good thing. Put cc in the past, u have a league to win.

  41. I wonder if the 7:53 poster was lying on his back and kicking his legs as he tried to "slam" Airport? Just proves what we already know about CC sportsmanship.

  42. Airport doesn't go anywhere because have you seen D3 playoff teams? Some of the best. In Airport's latest, strongest year they made it pretty far and still got demolished by Melvindale. Airports best team in the future will still never get far in the playoffs that's just the way it is. They will never be able to contend with EGR, OLSM, Dewitt, etc.

  43. 7:35 poster is angry his precious falcons wont be making the playoffs this year. Who cares about your state title runs, you came up short twice. What does that tell everybody? That you guys cant finish. Have fun watching playoffs games instead of playing in them.

  44. Enjoy the win, Airport. It's been a while since you've been able to raise your heads up. Do the HL a favor and try to do ANYTHING in the playoffs (if you get in).. Winning 1 in the last 4-5, NEVER making a noise in the playoffs, but still puffing out your chest after ONE win does not make you a winner-it makes you a punk. Enjoy it-you're still Airport, so you know it won't last (Spelling is correct for your purusal)

  45. To me,this is how I now see the league stacking up…

    1. Airport (Edges out GI simple off my SPECULATION of a better defense)

    2. GI (I would say essentially tied for first in my mind at this point, great offense)

    3. Riverview (Average wins against below average teams, but coaching goes a long ways)

4.SMCC (Coaching goes a long ways, edges out Huron for this spot because of a win. They will be there at the end)

    5. Huron (No idea what to think of this team…)

    6. Milan (Has shown flashes of offense, and I would suspect they will improve greatly as the year goes on)

    7. Flat Rock (Basement, bad team…congrats on the win though)

8.Jefferson (Slow, Small, Unenthused. This team will go as far as Boznac carries them)

…So there it is. Obviously there is a long ways to go…lots of questions to be answered, and lots of football to be played.

  46. I love how the embarrassed falcon fans are trying to change the subject and take the heat off there back by talking about jeffersons lost. YOU HAVE NOWHERE TO HIDE.

  47. SITOFN I thought your said Airport was going to be down this year. I beg your pardon, But that is what you said is it not?

  48. Giarmo says his team hasnt been beat up like that in a long time. How about last week, and game number 1 against plymouth. Those qualify as rear end kickings.

Hurons qb could not get to the edge, even with a bunch of real estate things closed up on him fast. He just doesnt have the speed. Mayrand wasnt a speed burner either but than again I dont recall him running option plays. Huron should've just stuck with the multi dimensional passing attack they had in the tavtigian and stockert days.

  49. Huron doesn't have an offensive game breaker this season. Brewer is a good back and runs hard. They need a speed guy who can get the edge. Unfortunately they don't grow on trees.

  50. "Huron should ditch those option plays they run, the quarterback is to slow for it to be effective. Riverview made half time adjustments, Huron did not. Huron's passing game didnt look to bad, they had open recievers most of the game."

A week ago the option won Huron the game against Milan. Huron only moved the ball with the veer and the pass. Last night, Huron's second TD was all option and pass. The qb threw a ton last night. They dropped some big passes. From the stands, it looks like Huron doesn't have any speed anywhere. What offense do you suggest Huron should run?

  51. Milan's QB was definitely not some prolific passer… lets get the straight. GI dropped back in a prevent defense for literally the whole fourth quarter and Milan just dinked and dunked there way down the field.

  52. Come on now, you know everybody will pick on SMCC when they lose.
When you pay $7500 a year for your kid to go there and you can pick up kids from anywhere(no particular school district) of course your going to take a lot of heat when you lose. None of the other schools can do that.
Expect the heat, its part of the deal of being a private school

  53. Milans passing game took GI by suprise. The GI O was also a bit flat last night compared to other games. Once GI came out after the half the D did step up to the plate. Still a few miss cues by the D but every week they get better. Next week the D will have to play the whole game or they will find themselve struggling to keep up with Airport. It should be a good game. So all in all it was a ugly win but a win which keep the Islanders 4-0 and in good playoff position.

  54. 1990 was the last time FR beat Jefferson.

Upset meter? Jefferson is down this season and was picked by me to finish in 8th but FR had been struggling badly and had lost 12 in a row. I wouldn't call it an upset even though the Bears had beaten FR 20 in a row.

  55. Does anyone know the last time Jefferson lost to Flat Rock?? Has anyone told Cisco that every team lifts weights now? It's not like it was 15 years ago when Jefferson was the only school with a weight room. CHANGE THE OFFENSE! Or better yet, change the coach.

  56. 10:40 post-Airport totally dominated CC last night and you ramble on about GI being the team to beat??? They gave up 32 points to Milan! What happened to that GI defense???

I'm waiting for my Monroe Evening News to see the front page of total Airport DOMINATION!! This won't be buried by Montri.

  57. Ya airport looks pretty solid and balanced. Nice team. Would be surprised if they lost a Huron league game. This week shows how balanced the league is but it looks like the jets are the team to beat in my eyes.

    -bn

  58. you people who bash smcc are pathetic. happy because they arent undefeated and smashing your team like they do almost every year. Guess what, smcc isnt very good this year. You people are happy because they have finally lost a few and are not breezin through league like they have for the last few years and winning a state championship. Even the best have down years.

  59. Shumake was solid all night & Jones busted a long TD after bein held in check most of the night. Potcova made some key throws including a highlightreel one handed catch by Brandon Lewis. But once again, it was Airport's defense that ruled the day. They are the most complete team in the league, as GI will find out next week. EM

  60. Thats a way to snap a losing streak! Blow a big halftime lead but stay strong and block a field go at the 4 yard line to win 21-19

  61. Jefferson will not win a Huron League game. Awful in first half,
made a game of it in second.

Cisco must realize when its time,
hopefully 1-8 will help his decision. Good job Flat Rock, way to hang on at the end.

  62. Well Falcon nation……what was it this time? Pants? Weather? Grass to high? Looks like GI is the team to beat. If I remember correctly, GI was picked to be 4th in the league, and SMCC was picked 1st. Must of been a typo or something. Nothing impressive about CC this year. But, the fellas on the sidelines sure have there clapping routines down pat! Very nice syncronized clappers I must say! Nope, Falcon nation isn't feeling very special tonight. Ouch!

  63. Huron should ditch those option plays they run, the quarterback is to slow for it to be effective. Riverview made half time adjustments, Huron did not. Huron's passing game didnt look to bad, they had open recievers most of the game.

  64. Maybe they are not upsets as mentioned earlier, but, definate suprises. Glad FR pulled one out, an I think the View surprised Huron. Great week. Looks like the game of the year will be GI and Airport. Winds of change still in question? lol
