Yes it was, that was the year milan came into the league. And i think at one time jefferson, CC, airport and milan were all ranked in the top 10 of their divisions.
Either way Airport was gonna draw a very tough opponent. Going 6-3 will draw a 9-0 team most likely. If the D plays like they did against Tecumseh it could be close. Still gotta give Milan the win in this one.
Smcc will make it through till they meet Clinton. Nobody else any good until then. Clinton 9-0. Hasn't beaten any big schools, but neither has Smcc. Clinton consistant, Smcc up and down but pulls out the wins. Should be a walk until then 11/9 vs Clinton.
P.S. I got to know the Biz a little. His cousin plays basketball for me and his sister is in our high school. I spoke with mom about football a little the other day at parent/teacher conferences.
I was at that game. I think they should have stayed with the run to. I believe Carrithers was nicked up on that final play of the 1st half. Here is a lin to the article that I wrote that night.
I agree that the SMCC game will be a blow out. I also think Milan blows out Airport again. I hope all the Huron League teams represent the league well. To bad Airport has to play Milan. I would liked to have seen them play somebody else for many different reasons. To bad them boys from Flat Rock did not make the playoffs. Those boys played some hard ball this year with all the big boys. Them seniors should be proud.
mmmm Chris were you at the SMCC/Ecorse game? If you werent then, I will tell you it was closer than the score. The 853 poster was right is the fact that Ecorse just went away from Iz in the 2ndhalf a decided to throw it on every down. If they had stuck with feeding IZ, it would have been very close IMO.
Im glad to hear you say that they dont have anyone like Dinkins and IZ.
That SMCC/Ecorse game was a blowout. Collegiate has nobody like Ecorse did in Dinkins and Iz the Biz Carrithers. Collegiate was blown out by 4-5 Divine Child two days ago.
Collegiate will not have a problem with the T. They have too much speed for CC to handle. Also, Rob Boudrie, who I believe was CC's D coordinator the last couple times they went to the finals, is now on the staff at Collegiate. So you have a great defensive coach stopping an offense that he already knows.
cc has their hand full…it will be like 2010 when ecorse came to town….team speed is on WC side and if they use it right ( unlike ecorse, who went away from the running game in the 2nd half) then cc will be in some trouble. agree to disagree?

There is so much more talent in the league now then there was in 2000.
2000 was one of the best years for region football as a whole!!
I had a hunch and looked at 2000. There were 8 schools that season.
Chris-are there 7 teams in Monroe County that made the playoffs this year? If so, is that the most teams from the county that ever made it through?
Beaudrie knows he won't be able to stop them.
yeah Teo Redding is better than anyone Ecorse ever had on that team…
Collegiate's WR/DB Teo Redding is something else! Committed to Bowling Green
Errrrr Madison heights is much better than Clinton.

GI better be ready to play this one. Home field advantage will help but they better work on pass coverage on D or they will be out in round one.

Oh and I doubt Collegiate has a player like Ecorse had in "Iz the biz" That guy was tough.

You really think Warren will be able to stop the T of SMCC? Not sure of that.

Thanks Rob
Have you seen Collegiate play 8:53?

Hopefully the Milan-Air game will be a little less lopsided this time around! Go Big Reds!
SMCC should win. GI will have their hands full with Chandler Park.
Looking good for the Huron League!
