  1. Wow, that was kind of harsh. Do you feel better?

I wouldn't totally disagree with your comment regarding Charter Schools. My parents were public school teachers and so is my wife. I don't think Charter Schools should exist where they aren't needed.

I would welcome you to come and visit the school I work at and then let's go visit the alternatives that these children are offered in the city of Detroit. I wonder why so many of my kids catch a bus at 6:45 am just to come to the school where I work.

You could stay the whole day. Talk with the kids, eat breakfast and lunch with them, let them talk about the person and/or relative that they know that has been murdered, stay for practice, maybe even ride the bus home with them and see where they live. chat with their single parent and find out the biggest reason they send their kid to my school is because it is safe. Or maybe you can go deep in the heart of the city with me as I drive some of them home to places you don't even know exist. Listen to the kids talk about how scary the neighborhood is that we just drove through and how glad they are to live in a neighborhood where they only here a few gun shots at night. Or spend time with my homeless kids and talk about their dreams of going to college and hoping they can find a way to pay for it.

Charters aren't perfect and I don't think they are the answer to the needs of all Michigan kids, but they are a good answer for some kids. Do they need to be held more accountable, hell yes! I would love to know where the money goes and why we spent $1 million on a field house that could have been built for half. Am I and my counterparts at the school overworked and underpaid? Yep! Do I love working there? Yes!

My lowly Charter School basketball team plays at Airport on 1/6/14 and at Flat Rock on 1/8/14. Come and say hi. I will introduce you to some of my kids.

  2. he doesn't do his homework you name Logan Turner as HM D and he didn't play a down of defense for Airport this year as they were a two platoon team on o and d….stick with being an AD at a lowly charter school and keep stealing public money it will come out as to where all these charter schools are placing their public monies

  3. I saw every team play this year and plus or minus a few kids your list is pretty good especially sense you dont pick two way players. However the best D-linemen I saw by far this year was #4 from GI, Robert Pugh and you dont even have him listed as honorable mention. Lako is a LB not DE but all good. Congrats to him on All-State Honors too!

Great job this year. Thanks for doing this blog.
