Riverview 2016 Preview

Riverview finished last season at 6-4 and has qualified for the playoffs the last three seasons as coach Derek McLaughlin enters his 3rd season.

The offense for Riverview returns 5 starters. Senior Kaylon Paynes -Brown is the leading returning rusher for the Pirates, but look for juniors Cam Rogers and Zack Guthrie to get their fair share of carries. The offensive line is led by Charlie Chevillet and Evan Begeman.

The defense will be led by junior LB Nick Walsh, who led the team in tackles a season ago and 6-2, 220 lb junior Austin Boike.  Look for juniors Nathan Maher and Cas Sarnaki to make contributions on the defensive line.

Riverview suffered heavy graduation losses, but are at a point where the program just reloads. Look for a strong junior class to carry the load this year. The Pirates travel to Romulus on Friday. Predictions: 4-3 League, 5-4 Overall

  1. Riverview Defense has some big shoes to fill losing Gubbini, Rice, Martin and Chase all 4 of these players had 50+ tackles each..This is a young but talented group of boys that have 4 sophmores playing on Varsity. I look for them to play well this year but be dominating next year.
