Stockbridge @ Ida

Stockbridge(5-4), a small community of 1,300, which lies 36 miles SE of Lansing, is coming off a 50-34 victory over Parchment, while Ida(8-1) is fresh off a resounding win over Onsted 53-20.  Ida holds a 2-0 lead in the all-time series with the last meeting in 2008(47-13).  Stockbridge has made the playoffs the last 3 seasons and has a overall playoff record of 3-7.  Ida has made the playoffs 6 out of the last 7 years and as an overall record of 5-7.

StockBridge is led by Sr. QB Mason Gee-Montgomery who is averaging over 250 yards and 4 TD’s through the air a game.  He set the state record for TD passes last year with 51.  He also holds the state record for career TD passes, currently at 122.  You dont need a degrees in football to figure out that this kid can wing it.  He will pose quite a challenge for the Bluestreaks.  The Panthers can move the ball on the ground as well behind Miguel Medina who averages nearly 100 yards a contest.  Stockbridge is coached by Jeremy Killinger.

Ida, the LCAA co-champion, hangs it’s hat on a punishing, high scoring ground attack, out of the Full House T formation. The Bluestreaks average over 52 points a game, mainly doing so on the ground.  34 points is the lowest offensive output for the high octane Bluestreaks this season.  Ida has plenty of bigtime play makers on which they can lean. SR FB/FS Nick Levicki(5’11” 220lbs), SR TE/DE Kyle Parran(6’5″ 240lbs), SR OT/DT Brandon Suydam(6’0″ 270lbs), SR TE/LB Bryan Laux (6’0″ 185), SR RB Andrew Oberski(6’1″ 180lbs).  Ida is headed by veteran coach Tom Walentowski.

This match-up would seem to have all the makings of a good ole shoot out.  The golden arm of Gee-Montgomery vs the road grating, field plowing of Levicki, Oberski and the T.  I honestly don’t see Stockbridge keeping the Bluestreaks under 50 here.  Ida has the makings of a team who could hold a regional crown when it’s all said and done.  They take their first step in doing so this Friday.  I will be there!  Say hi if you know me.

Pick: Ida 60 Stockbridge 27

  1. We don't know much about Southfield Bradford academy, but I am sure that our Bluestreaks will be preparing diligently this week and everyone will be doing their homework.

  2. What a great article!!! Love that our "Boys of Fall" take it one game at a time! They play, win and lose as ONE, a great bunch of kind young men that play with clear eyes and full hearts. These boys are good at keeping their focus and honored to play the game. #idaproud Thank you so much for the blog. ##oneteamonedream

  3. We are very proud of these young men. Most of us parents are patiently waiting for tomorrow's game, unsettled nerves. We like to stay positive and hope for the best, one game at a time. Thanks for the nice write up. GOOD LUCK BLUESTREAKS.
