Week 4 MHSAA Football Game Day Notes

Airport is 7-3 in the last 10 games against Flat Rock, which includes wins in 2018 and 2019.

Bedford is 8-14 all-time against Saline and hasn’t beaten the Hornets since 2013.

Carlson’s opponent Harper Woods is 0-3, but has lost to Novi Catholic Central, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and defending Division 1 state champion Davison.

Dundee has not played Clinton since 2006, that was the last season the Redskins played in the LCAA prior to the 2020 season.

Erie Mason is averaging a staggering 58 ppg while only giving up just over 13 ppg. Last year those numbers were 36 ppg and 44 ppg respectively.

Flat Rock is feeling the effects of graduating arguably two of the best offensive players in school history from last season in Ravion Davis and Caron Clayton. The Rams are averaging just a paltry 6.67 ppg through 3 games in 2020.

Much has been made by FNV regarding Grosse Ile’s record during even and odd years over the last decade. Here is the data: even years 36-9, odd years 23-26.

Huron’s sensational QB Austin Myers was knocked out of last week’s game against SMCC early in the 1st quarter. He suffered a knee injury along with a dislocated shoulder, but should return for the playoffs. Senior Chase Molnar and sophomore Gavin Muzzy will lead the Chiefs against Milan tonight.

Ida host Onsted tonight. The Blue streaks lost last season to the Wildcats 23-12, but had won 7 straight in the series prior to that.

Jefferson enters tonight’s game against 3-0 Riverview as a heavy underdog while sitting at 0-3. The Pirates have won seven of the last 10 meetings, but prior to that, each team has won 14 games in the series that dates back to 1980.

Milan Coach Jesse Hoskin’s is in his 10th season at his alma mater. His record stands at 69-30. Hoskin’s always seems to develop game breaking players. This year includes junior QB, Cole Mcelvany Here are a few more from over the years: Arthur Dukes, Robert Kanitz, Trace Lindeman, Demetrius Barnes and Tristen Hines.

Monroe is just 5-10 since 1950 against Ann Arbor Pioneer and is 4-7 against the Ann Arbor school since joining the SEC Red division back in 2009. Pioneer won last year’s match up 35-34 in OT.

Riverview enters tonight’s game against Jefferson at 3-0 and ranked # 7 in this week’s FNV Division 3 rankings. The Pirates were the favorites to win the Huron League coming into 2020 after finishing 2019 at 8-3 with a line up that included many sophomores. Those players are juniors now and include; Landon Kincaid, Cal Lockhart, Preston Thompson, Ben Johnson, Jacob Puma and Noah Grunwald among others.

SMCC enters week 4 with a record of 1-2. A slow start was expected of the Falcons this season after graduating 22 seniors from the 2019 state championship team. While only 2 starters return on both sides of the ball, don’t feel sorry for the Falcons. SMCC’s roster includes 24 underclassmen, 8 of which are sophomores.

Summerfield (1-2) welcomes FNV top ranked division 8 Sand Creek to town tonight. The Aggies boast a offensive line that averages 265 lbs and features a great backfield that includes brothers Will (2021) and John (2022) Alexander. The Bulldogs have won 6 out of the 10 games in the series.

Whiteford is hosting (0-3) Pittsford tonight. The Bobcats currently sit at 1-2. Whiteford is 5-9 since 1950 against Pittsford. These two teams have not played since 2010. The Bobcats won that game 24-6.
