  1. No Bosman was a Defensive Tackle. Possibly the best Defensive player to come out of Riverview. Already a 2 year 1st Team Selection, this year being Unam. Stergalas will look to him to lead the rising Pirates in 2010.

  2. other greats from GI in the 2000's were Lonnie Pugh (DL), Pat Crowley (QB), Nick Teen (RB), Jimmy Jurecki(RB) Dex Teen (RB) Justin Judd (DE)

  5. Here are some good one's from Grosse Ile from the 2000's…

Dan Cowley – Great QB for the devils..went to Air Force to play where a career ending injury forced him to stop playing.

Mike Rahn – HUGE O-lineman for the devils…went to Grand Valley where he was on the team for a couple years.

Kris Zajac – Great running back for the devils, went on to play at defiance college where he broke records, and even played in a college all star game.

Blake Smolen – Very good Wide Receiver / Running Back for the devils…went on to excel at the college level at Grand Valley where he broke records and was an all-american.

Sean Matela – good O-lineman for the devils…went on to play college ball at Northwood and Wayne State.

  6. The 15 Juniors that started last year for SMCC has played 9 more games than most of the teams in the Huron League if you include the fact that they started as sophs as well. 4 playoff games in 08 and 5 in 09, that is an entire season of intense playoff football. The 2010 Falcons might just be one scary bunch and be one of the best teams this region has ever seen. I dont think those 9 extra playoff games can be overlooked as far as extra preperation and practice… those games are imeasurable when it comes to the development of a player and team. I wonder how many teams at Ford Field this year started 15 Juniors.

  8. GI mom we don't need you spell checking go make some brownies. Now i no why your sports are so weak. You must be the LB coach.

  9. Wow – such harsh words from so many SMCC Haters! First of all – if my child did not attend GI schools he would go to SMCC. Secondly I'm not an SMCC hater – always respected their athletic program – well coached, well disciplined scholar athletes all around.
Thirdly to Anonymous at 12:35 a.m. on 12/30/09: it is spelled academics and academically – NOT the way that you have it spelled – I'm hoping that with my compliment above about SMCC that you are not an alum there. At GI we pride ourselves in being a top school and our athletes are SCHOLAR ATHLETES – not just athletes.
Now let's get back to football.

    Happy New Year

Signed – a GI Football Mom

  10. How is SMCC the hardest in the country academically? Im sure The Hun School in Princeton, NJ is way harder academically.

  11. Grading scale at SMCC- 100-93(4.0) 92-85(3.0) 84-77(2.0) 77-70(1.0) 69=FAIL.

Much different than the national 10 point scale.

  12. its a 6.5 grade scale if you dont have a 92.5 then it is not an a-.

the defensive coach is the dean of acidemics, he checks every week for grades, hes not like all the other schools that wait months or weeks to check. and ya smcc is a college prep school. nowhere near the other schools acidemically, the 1.5 does not show anything.

  13. Who's talking about all that not me relax.I would think they would hold there athletes to a little higher standard.Hey Flat rock has no GPA requirement. It's sad more schools don't put education first.

  14. SMCC is by far the hardest school academically in the country. Look at the MEAP score buddy! haha. By the way the school is on a 7 point grade scale. Im assuming you probably dont even know what that is but basically a B at a school with a normal grade scale is like a C at SMCC.

  15. howey- in the state championship game carried smcc. numerous tackles and key pass breakups. Huge play with Strip and recovery of the football on the Montague QB on the goaline. And obveously he led the offense as well. Goes to show smcc does have talent! just didnt use it in the regular season.

  16. Kyle Burkardt 5'11" 215lbs JR, in the trenches both ways for the Falcons. One of only three who went both ways… Lovell and Nick Wilson being the others.

  17. Team of the 1990s lets get some talk going. I know Jody Dunn (Jefferson) has to be one of them.

Lets get a top 15 Offense and a top 15 Defense. Help bring back some of the good ole days.

  18. I assume your thinking returning players. I would say Bosman from Riverview. Unanimous choice all league on defense last year and 2nd Team on offense.

If your thinking this past year. I would say Lovell from SMCC. He was Huron League DPOY and 2nd Team on offense.
