The Bears of Monroe Jefferson are coming off a 2017 campaign in which they finished 0-9.  Jefferson has made the playoffs once in the last 11 seasons.  The Bears are fronted by 2nd year head coach Gene Gennoe.  Assistant Coaches will be Jason Gendron, Eric Tipton, and Mike Humphry.

Returning Letter Winners: 13
Offensive Starters Returning: 3
Defensive Starters Returning: 4

Players To Watch: Larry Wiggins – QB, Alek Poremba – FB, Hunter Russ – G, Luke Sandiefer – TE, Seth Lamb – LB

New Players to Watch: Kevin St. Bernard – C, Logan Tipton – G, Nolan Vanover – RB, Griffin Renn – LB.

Coaches Thoughts: “This group of seniors are small in numbers, but have been an extremely hard-working group.  Last year we were in a lot of close games, but were not able to finish.  This year’s seniors are working hard to change that.”

Coaches Outlook: “SMCC and Riverview are very talented, but all the teams in the Huron League have great players and coaches.”

FNV Thoughts:  As stated, the Bears were in close game after close game, but just couldn’t close the deal in 2017.  Look for Jefferson to take the next step in year 2 of coach Gennoe, and add some notches to the win column in 2018.  Getting back to the rugged style we are used to from the Bears, while also getting their speedy QB Wiggins on the edge.

Gary’s Pick: 2-7

Chris’s Pick: 2-7

Frank’s Pick: 3-6
