Questions With the FNV Staff

What was the most surprising score/result from week 6?

Chris: Without a doubt it was Carlson’s 60-15 drubbing of Trenton at Trenton. This was literally a pick’em game that was over by the end of the 1st quarter. Both teams entered with identical 3-2 records, but the Marauders opened a “can”.

Frank: This is a no-brainer for me. Whiteford dismantled the 8th ranked team in Division 7 in Sand Creek 28-6 behind a huge performance from Devon Shaw.

Gary: I’m going to go with the thrashing Carlson put on a good Trenton team. I wonder if they had a little revenge on their mind after last year’s playoff loss to the Trojans. It was a must needed win for the Marauders with 2 good opponents remaining on their schedule.

Which team is trending up?

Chris: For me, it is the Carlson Marauders. They have won 3 in a row, all in convincing fashion and their star players are playing like stars. This week will be a big test as they travel to a wounded 2-3 Harper Woods team that needs a win or they may miss the playoffs.

Frank: When you score an upset win like Whiteford did, it’s pretty hard to not be trending upward. Has the pilot light finally turned on for Jason Mensing and company?

Gary: There are a few teams to choose from here but I’m sticking with Bedford. Nearly pulling out a what would have been a huge win over Regional powerhouse Saline, solidifies for me that the Kicking Mules are for real.

Which is the most intriguing game in week 7?

Chris: Airport @ Flat Rock is a huge game this week. This is a rivalry game, the Jets and the Rams have been playing for the coveted jug for decades. For me it is a must win for both teams if they want a shot at the playoffs. Flat Rock cannot afford another loss and would most likely get in at 5-4 if they win out. Airport has Milan looming in week 8, a loss would have them staring at 5-4 and would be on the fence for the playoffs right behind FR.

Frank: There are two for me. The first is Whiteford traveling to Clinton. The Bobcats took down one ranked team in D7, but can they do it again against the Number 2 ranked Redskins on the road? The other is Ida at Hillsdale. Ida has woken up on offense in their last two games. Will they be able to keep on truckin’ as they head west to take on a Hillsdale team ranked in the top 10 in Division 5?

Gary: Give me the BCC Golden Eagles at the Dundee Vikings. This is an absolute must win for Dundee if they are to make the playoffs. Remember last year they did not have enough playoff points to get in at 5-4, this win will go a long way in setting up a possible all or nothing battle (as far as the playoffs are concerned) vs Hillsdale in week 9.

  1. 2018: BCC 32 , Dundee 26
    2017: BCC 28, Dundee 21
    2016: BCC 28, Dundee 26

Can the Vikings finally break the curse BCC has over them? Go Vikings!

    1. After playing against both teams, BCC wins this one by at least 3 TD’s. BCC is harder to tackle, especially out in the open than Dundee, Dundee just hits harder. Dundee only has Williams on offense while BCC has 3 or 4 guys who are tough to stop. The only thing helping Dundee is that they are at home. I wish they would win for our playoff points but I don’t see that happening.

      BCC 34
      Dundee 7

  2. The Flat Rock QB is capable of putting his team on his back, he nearly did it to Airport last year. A win and Airport can pretty much lock up a playoff spot with winless Melvindale coming up in week 9. With the bad taste of the Riverview game still lingering I think (hope) Airport comes out Friday and plays its best game of the season and gets the win.

    1. EM I’m actually speechless with the Jets. I was really looking forward to that Milan game being for a shot at the HL. That’s been a great game the last couple years that has come down to the wire.

      1. Troll I still think the Milan game will be a nail biter like the last couple meetings. While Airport is out of the league race, we are very much alive for our first playoff birth in 7 years. And who knows maybe a win over Milan will get Airport a first round home game.

  3. SMCC qualifies for the playoffs for the 15th time in the past 17 years! With an 8 game schedule you only need 5 wins. Go Falcons
