Here are the FNV Player of the Week nominations for week 1 of the MHSAA 2020 high school football season. Please vote on twitter @FNVictors

Cole McElvany, QB, Milan: Tristen Hines left some big shoes to fill for the Big Reds. McElvany filled those shoes with ease, as the junior threw for 115 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 107 yards and three scores in a 59-14 rout of Flat Rock. The 59 points were the most the Reds have rolled up since a 67-44 win over Detroit Denby in the 2015 playoffs.

Isaac Smith, WR, Huron: When Chris and I talked last Tuesday, he said that Smith was a game-changer. The junior backed up that claim with seven catches for 110 yards, and three touchdowns. He also returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.

Noah Beaudrie, QB, Erie Mason: Beaudrie started his senior season with a bang, as he threw for 249 yards and five touchdowns, plus ran for 119 yards and a score in the Eagles’ 54-21 win over Summerfield. The win marked the first for Rob Beaudrie and company as members of the Tri-County Conference.

Jaishaun Williams, QB, Carlson: New coach, new system and a new quarterback? No problem for the Marauders. Williams didn’t disappoint in his first start at QB, as he went 7-for-12 for 207 yards and four TDs. He also rang up 85 yards rushing in Carlson’s 45-6 win over Taylor.

Others considered for the Week 1 Player of the Week: Tyler Swick-Grosse Ile (2 TD’s/2 Int’s), Austin Myers-Huron (252 yards passing 4 TD’s), Tanner Herrera-Erie Mason (8 catches 157 yards 3TD’s).
